Sixty-eight years ago today, the US and Japanese militaries were engaged in heavy fighting in the Marianas. To take a quick look at this, I again hand the keyboard over to Ken Estes

Why on earth would we want the Japanese tanks? It would appear that they are totally useless. Unless the game is going to introduce some really unlikely fantasy versions.
And if that happens it may well turn me away from playing.

Chieftain,
I've recently returned from a trip to Pelelieu (Palau, South Pacific) and have several photos of wrecked Japanese tanks (all angles, and some inside pics) if you fellas are interested in them.

I can see where you are coming but war gaming probably sees the British tanks as away of getting more European players into the game( second largest region).I believe if you look on a recent poll, more players wanted to see British tanks first on our server as well. This is a tank game first and foremost and the fact remains that the British contributed a lot more to the advancement of tank tech than the Japanese ever did.And if you want axis nations, Im sure the Japanese will be right behind the British in being introduced.

I would like to see a Japanese line in the game. And a few maps themed for the pacific. And possibly also extending the global map to the Pacific. North and South America I would disagree with adding due war not occurring on the 48 states since 1865.
One maybe themed around Midway, another around Hawaii, Wake Island, and maybe one map that is a volcanic island (themed around the Islands controlled by Japan). A few also themed around mainland Japan would be nice.

The japanese fielded pitiful tanks. The MASSIVE majority that were even designed were lights and mediums with small guns. There were roughly 3 or 4 Heavy-super Heavy tank designs proposed by the Japanese. The british, on the other hand, designed many varieties of tanks, heavy to light and everything in-between. The Japanese would need to have little historical accuracy to make them worth playing in this game, because most of the guns they fielded and armor they had were very poor for a modern war.

What? The fantasy tanks already in game don't bother you?

You sir don't know about the various Japanese tech trees already proposed. There is plenty of prototypes that can be implemented into the game. I would rather see the Japanese than some euro tech tree because HELLO!!! we only have ONE axis nation Germany. Even know in game they don't match you by the nationality of your vehicle I still feel we need another axis nation tech tree. I was disappointed that the British were coming first over the Japanese because frankly i'm just not interested in British tanks. I'm just sick of people saying Japanese tanks are useless.
You sir, fail at comprehension. read the post properly. Nowhere was a lack of knowledge about the proposed tech tree even mentioned.
The existence of another axis tech tree is moot. How often did the various nations fight along side? Your arguement there was counter your opinion.
Please show where jap tanks weren't useless.
So you're not interested in reality based tanks but like to see imaginary tanks.
Do you also have invisible friends?
EDIT - I see you are a 14 year old boy from Wisconson. I shall treat your opinions with even more disdain.

Reading back through old posts I see a bit of comment about the use of HE as AP went through. One poster beleived it was a myth and couldn't give any battle account to verify his idea. This excellent post clears that up.
Perhaps there will be a reason to carry a few HE rounds.
Award for killing 100 Japanese tanks - 'Pearl's Revenge' maybe.

Have you read the fan made Japanese tree? It's complete, including tier 10 heavies and mediums. These are no mere fantasy. Though few of them made it into production, there were plans and prototypes for many varieties and quality levels of tank. They had German engineering assisstance, and American inspiration post-war. See the Type 74 for example.
Again these are almost made-up ideas from mid level up. I like that most of the tanks in the current trees are based around some reality. I suspect that as the need to introduce new tanks continues the game will lose whatever realism based principle it had and become an absurdity. And that will be when I turn off my suspension of disbelief and walk away.
Yes, they are mere fantasy. Vainly stretching for ideas that fill in gaps. Hopes and dreams only.
EDIT: And what happens after the Brit, European, Commwealth and Japanese tanks are done?

A good read, A forgotten place and battlefields is where I lived and worked for a year was the Marshall Islands. Kwajalein Atoll, namely the Islands of Roi-Namur. Operation Flintlock Jan-Feb 1944. I was there in 2004-2005. A neat place and people.

WG have to be very careful. The introduction of the french line hasn't been a stellar success. The early level tanks are no fun and the higher tiers are all wrong. In the main player base they have the worst pick-up stats by far. I would suggest that any Japanese tree would suffer as bad or worse.
This story ilustrates very well the paucity of Japanese tank capability.
