Were the hell is my WoT launcher?

freeno56's Photo freeno56 Jun 28 2012

So, I was going to fire up the old WoT Launcher for the updates. I don't play WoT as often as I did, but I don't wanna fall back in updates and then next time I try to play it I'll have a 7hour+ download of updates waiting for me. Well, this time. I was thinking about playing it. So, it was updating. So I just was waiting. As I was doing other stuff on my computer, I didn't pay attention to the WoT launcher. Then when I remembered that I had it up, I checked my task bar and nothing was there. So, I clicked on the World of Tanks icon in the start menu and it said another instances of the game was running. And I ended up closing it through the Windows Task Manager. Trying to open it again, nothing poped up on the task bar. So I checked the Task Manager and found that WOTlauncher.exe is running in the background. So, where the hell is my WoT Launcher?

Navigate to WoT directory using windows explorer and find WoTLauncher.exe. Does the same thing happen if you click it instead of the shortcut in the start-menu?

Same thing is happening to me. I started the launcher from the directory program, process launches and can be seen in the task manager but no window opens and the game cannot be updated. Attempting to launch it again results in an error saying WoT is already running.

That's weird. While I'm unsure of an exact fix for this issue, perhaps downloading the patch via torrent or http would work. I don't believe you need to use the launcher at all.

If you end up using the torrent you might have to change the order of the trackers or remove retracker.local, for some reason if it's listed first, the torrent wouldn't download. All previous patches had it like below and works good:

Well, this is what I did.
I already done that a long time ago. But I just done it again for luck. But then I found the old WoT Puplic test 7.1 folder that I never deleted. So I clicked on it and open ITS launcher instead. The launcher came up this time but I was paying attention to it, and it just exited out of the launcher. I don't know what it is but something is making the launcher close.

EDIT:
While trying to launch World of Tanks through the file location; I noticed that date on  WOTLauncher.log change. So I had to go investigate and this is what was in the folder(direct Copy and Paste)

30/06/2012 11:16:29   Starting...
30/06/2012 11:16:29   create update folder: path="H:\Games\World_of_Tanks\Updates"
30/06/2012 11:16:29   create temp update folder: path="\\?\%appdata%\wargaming.net\wot\temp"

Odd thing is, it says that its 30/06/2012 and yet its not that time. It only got the clock time right.

This is a known bug that cropped up with the release of 7.4.  I've got the exact same problem and have submitted a ticket on it.  I've had no luck getting launcher to run, but if you download the complete installation, it replaces the exe file with the latest version, so you can play WoT without the launcher.  That only works until the next update and then you'll have to download everything again.
