There's an excellent history of this, called "Deathly Deception:The real story of Operation Mincemeat",by Denis Smyth. There is also "Operation Mincemeat" by Ben McIntyre, another really good read. The movie from the '50's, "The Man Who Never Was" was based on the book by one of the guys who put it all together, and is good to watch as well.

And what makes you say that? The fact that the British Government confirmed the identity of Major William Martin as Glyndwr Michael on his gravestone certainly reinforces the issue.

New facts were shown in BBC documentary (produced and directed by Jonathan Martin)
"The Man Who Hoodwinked Hitler" [part of the BBC series: Heroes and Weapons of WWII]
i highly recommend to watch it... (the story complexity requires a lot of time to explain every aspect of it - which i don't have at the moment)
enough to say, it was brilliant spy-work, which wouldn't work with Glyndwr Michael's body...
PM if you want, i try to help in spare time.

Random fact but Ian Fleming also wrote Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as well as the Bond books....
'The Man Who Never Was' is an excellent film. I beleive they even creted a real officer profile with commissioning dates etc and published them so the Germans could check in the London Gazette if he was a real commissioned officer or not.
