I am starting to hate DEFENDING in assault

Ghalion's Photo Ghalion Jul 05 2012

Title. Every time i play defense some moron on the team tells the te to stay in the base. I  try to repair the damage and say "no, defend the chokepoints", but time and time again 10+ thoughtless dopes stay in the base. Being useless.

It would be nice if assault loading screens had a tip that says "defend the chokepoints, not the flag".

The new map modes are beyond the current skill and intelligence level of pub players.

It will improve in time simply by herd mentallity.

Start doing the right thing and youlll find in time that others will copy and follow suit, they in turn will then be copied etc etc.

Hang in there!

True, but... in assault mode its also a very bad idea for the defenders to race out and create a front line beyond the range of the defending artillery... which happens a lot too.

You'll get use to it but here a tip. Always focus on the base not on the offensive. Stay close to the base while the scouts go and knocking off or distract the enemy.

Sooooo many times on Prokorovkha people sit on the hill....when the other side has 3 Tier 6 arty...I say 'move off the hill (or at least hide), only 3 crossing points to defend, you will die if you stay on the hill'. Then they say 'stfu noob we ah defenzerz'...within 2 minutes they are all dead.

Similar thing on that map (I think its Karelia, bad with names) that has the swamps in the middle, and on a standard battle has the bases on the 2 plateaus in the NW and SE. In defence, I cop so much for trying to convince the team that if the other side gets control of those plateaus, they can shoot down onto us, arty us etc. Ask for help to defend those points and get the same 'no stay on base' bs.

I do love defence though when you get a solid push going on one of the flanks. For example, on Sand River if you manage to push along the A line in a good wolf pack, you can often completely crush the attack.

Not every PUB player is without skill ... some of us are stuck only being able to play during certain hours ... and for me it gets me stuck with a lot of bad teams ...

Too many times the defenders over extend themselves and leave the base defenseless. Some day they will learn that if the flank they are on has been destroyed by them, to come back to base and attack the other flank. They always text back that everything is alright, and then when the enemy from the other flank shows up at our base, it's too late for them to make it back. One time it worked because time ran out, but that is one time out of 15.

If players would use their noggin, and think of what is going on when the roles are reversed, that both flanks advance in unison. So if you attack a flank and destroy it, then the other flank will be at our base soon. Not to mention that the opponent has 10 minutes to kill us all or take the base, so that definitely means there will be no campers, and there is not enough time to circle in behind the other flank.

I had an awesome defense last night and made a new friend. Our tier 10 decided to tell everyone they HAD to stay in the base on sand river. I of course left and went south to spot....to which I got called an A-hole that doesn't know how to play....so I of course need to look this guy up...44% over all 39% in his 110.

I made a comment about how much does someone who wins 44% of the time really know about playing....well.... the rest of the battle and a special very long PM after apparently he's going to kill my mother with her credit card and something about me being in a kids guild....  ( my clans name is old timers guild btw ) I tried to save it but my power went out and I lost it I was sad :(

So is the next day too soon to call ? I don't want him to think I'm desperate but if I wait too long he might think I don't care. How long should I wait before sending him a blind platoon invite ?

While I agree that this person was clueless, you are equally clueless using a statistic based on the results of 15 players to judge his abilities. The teams he played on had a 44% win rate, not him individually, and as such, this statistic does not reflect his individual ability.

idiots may sneer at you but players with even modest intelligence will give you respect. i wear the disdain and childish insults of brainless base campers like a badge of honor.  :Smile_honoring:

Assault attack or defending I am see the same win to lose rate as stander battles from befor. Now assaults tend to be more one sided  eather way but winning or losing still seems to be running the same. I think eather way to many people hate assaults befor they even gave them the time need to learn how to play them. Defending players can not all sit in the starting point they have to move around just like befor and most team that just sit and camp will lose.

The Best Defense is often a Good Offense ~ However if that offense doesn't get off to a good start and stalls then the Attacker can and will just cherry pick the attack apart (see it most on Campanova - the defense heads to the church and it falls apart from there as there is often already scouts in the woods and advancing forces in range of the building)

This topic has been done to death and yet a certain skill level ofplayer never cease to blame the team for their bad win %. Clueless may not be the right word but denial certainly fits.

I agree about helping the other flank out if at all possible, which isn't always the case.
Zipping about in a light tank yes ofcourse, driving my (s)Löwe, not so much zipping anywhere =)
