German crew speak German? Mini-map orientation change

Two questions, second first: Mini-map.

Is it possible to have the mini-map always oriented so that your spawn appears in the bottom portion?  (i.e. that your direction of travel is "up")

Having spent a lot of time map reading, I automatically assume that the map (Itk, mini-map) is oriented correctly to the world and my direction of travel.  IIRC in 7.3 the mini maps were correctly oriented, but that now in 7.4 they are all "spawn justified".


Question the first, albiet last: How do I enable German language crew chatter?  It is weird hearing a generic American voice coming from my German tank crew.  I'd much rather hear the Deutch.

The second is not implemented yet.

You can convert all voices to German, but you better speak it well because the seem to have long sentences to explain simple stuff. PM me if you want to and Ill find the link for you.
You cannot change mini map orientation.

Second option had a button assaigned in the settings, but no effect it will be implemented (I cant wait to hear my Panzer III/V crew speak Deutsch) :Smile_Default: . Sadly Im unsure when.

You will need google translate to see the site. Be careful on the down load page its confusing. But I got it to work and the German voices were very cool. Im trying to learn the language.
To use a sound mod You need to COPY your entire audio file from the res folder to the res mod folder then overwrite the audio in res mods with the German voice pack. Good luck.

Re: the MINI MAP;  it is incorrect to not have the map oriented so that your 'general, direction of travel is "up". I spent a lot of time in infantry and tanks, have navigated every terrain type on three continents, and taught orienteering, so I do have a vague understanding of what right looks like.

You ALWAYS orient the map so that what you see on paper matches what you see on the ground. You also hold the map in such a way that when you look forward on the ground in your direction of travel, that the indicated direction on the map is "up."

Where the game design is in error is that this is true only for players spawning at the lower portion of the game-world grid. If you are lucky enough to spawn in the south, WYSIWYG .

If you spawn in the north, however everything seems wrong. The TD you see to hiding to the left of your friend 300 yds in front of you is actually to the right of your friend on the mini- map. When you are scouting, and tell arty that you are going to run to half-court and swing left, he thinks you are lost when he looks to the mini map and sees your icon move right across the screen.

In effect, the error causes internal dissonance and damages the player's suspension of disbelief (immersive ness).
