Recently I've heard of this thing called the efficiency calculator, which is supposed to help you find out your efficiency. But nobody is telling me what it means. What is this efficiency calculator and how do I find my efficiency?

I woulg like to get the actual equation. But it is based on Damage, defense points and capture points.

If you'll google "World of Tanks efficiency calculator" or something to that effect, you will get some returns that get you what you're looking for.  I found one in russian....have google translate it for you...allows you to type in the name of any WoT player and it'll give you his/her efficiency rating and what the rating means.

Follow the link, put your in-game name (or anyone elses), make sure to select the correct server and hit "calculate efficiency"...

It's kind of a tricky issue and for all reasons I think only WoT engineers know what those numbers actually mean....they are a combination of several things, tanks destroyed, spotted, cap points, def points, etc etc................but just go by their final numbers..........above 1200 = good player, 1200= average player, below 1200 = 'not so good' player............

It looks to me like the average level played has a pretty high effect on the final numbers.  I wouldn't worry about your efficiency rating until you're prepping for Clan Wars.  And you should.  If you like WoT, CW is like the same game only better in every way.

Christ.

I always sort of figured I was average or just below average.  According to that calculator, I blow.  Now I feel like a complete tool.  Oh well, I guess that just gives me something to shoot for.

Cheers!

One thing I found fascinating is that 58% of players are classed as bad or below average.  32% of players are classed as average, and only 10% of players are considered "good" or better.  Also interestingly, as I get higher tier tanks my efficiency rating has been going down, even as my win percentage has been going up.

This word "average".  I do not think it means what they think it means.

Well the curve used to be a lot harder. A while ago I was considered average borderline good. Now I fit into the good area. Which tells you, the players are getting worse. It's easy to believe that over half the players don't care what they're doing.

I'm not convinced that this is entirely accurate.

I won't deny that there are many bad players out there.  I know that because I'm one of them .  I'm not bad intentionally but it doesn't change the fact that I only survive less than a third of matches I get into.  Frankly, I don't have a lot of time to devote to my armored shennanigans and, well, practice makes perfect.  If you don't practice, you don't get better.

I guess my only point is that maybe blanket statements like "the players are getting worse" can't be considered totally true unless the reasoning behind that trend is examined and presented as well.

My .02.  Now I'm off to continue sucking.  Maybe I should start a Clan called SUCK.  That way, when someone joins, I can say to them "welcome to the suck."  :Smile_Default:

Problem with efficiency is it puts too much on capture and defense points.  I can kill 6 tanks do tons of damage and get 1600 efficiency.  But when I kill no one and fire not a shot and cap (happened while playing an AMX 40) I get 14,000 efficiency.

With the new game mode encounter I find that if you protect the cap racking up defense points as the enemy try to cap you can really rack up efficiency.  I have 2000 efficiency on both my M18 and T32 mostly because of the new game modes.

How do you get defense points?  Do you actually have to be in the circle at your base as you damage/destroy enemies?  Do you even have to damage/destroy anyone?

I believe that's been done.  It's called "some dumb pubs" I believe, and has become one of the most successful clan wars groups in the game.  In the words of Spider Robinson:  God is an iron.

If the fields keep shrinking in the good to sick players and the bad player's numbers are growing, what's that tell you about the player base? Hey, I'm not saying na na na na na to anyone just stating facts. If the numbers were higher and keep dropping, it doesn't take a genius to figure it out.

You get defense points by resetting somebody from capping your base. You get capture points by capturing. Just to be clear with everyone. You can kill the entire list of enemy tanks and still be bad with this calculation. If you are doing it all in matches you're efficient.

On a side note. If you play a lot of arty this won't tell you what you want to hear for sure.

I am and have been in the avg category for months..
but since my prem account has run out I have gone up almost 10 points on here.. and my ratings on the WoT aassistant app for my iphone shows I am climbing in all its ratings...
I have some really great rounds which makes me happy and if not for arty would have a hit ratio in the 80's...
