Lowe is the better of the two earns a little more but both do well as far as credits. T34 is a tank you can get in to bad trouble quickly and once you do you are done, it can be real good when you can count on your teammates which is rare.

I would not call the T34 gun better. The extra pen and damage comes at a huge price in aim time and accuracy - I'd put a Lowe gun on a T34 if I could.

I bounced back and forth quite a bit, hemming and hawing over this question.
In the end, I went with the Lowe. I have more German tanks than American. There is only one Heavy line in the US lineup, and two in the German, meaning I'm more likely to need the Lowe for training than the T34.
Also, after playing both on the 7.5 Test Server, I decided this:
The Lowe is slower, and is a more dedicated sniper. The T34 is a mid-range brawler? Either way, I got into way more trouble in the T34 as it's mobility tended to let me get too far ahead of the pack and into spots where my reload killed me. You will learn faster not to push constantly in the Lowe, but you don't move fast anyway so odds are good you just can't lead the pack and get killed for it.
Gun wise, the Lowe's accuracy is amazing. I can consistently make 500m or more shots on just a radio report, and while the damage isn't top, I can pull in the kills. I actually prefer to earn Confederate awards over top gun as it means I am making more credits. Credits > medals on this tank. I can also fire a little faster than the T34. With the T34, I found that even once I reloaded, I was playing too much cat an mouse to really even maximize my ROF. This meant to me I was losing credits. The Lowe I am able to keep my shots up as long as there are targets because I'm farther back from the battle.
DPM is exactly the same, theoretically. My issue was that I never was able to maximize my DPM on the T34 as I was focusing on protecting my weak hull and playing peekaboo. The Lowe I just fired round after round downrange from way back in cover.
Armor wise, the Lowe has less armor, but it is better balanced. All the armor on the turret of the T34 means that everyone and their brother is shooting your hull. It's a well-known fact that you don't bother with the turret on the American tanks (and one I've exploited). On the Lowe, all your armor from the front is the same, though not as good as the T34. Just another reason to be further back where a bounce is more likely. The Lowe is surprisingly bouncy - it has a lot of curvy angles on the turret. The T34 you are far more likely to be in closer, and you have to focus on protecting your hull a lot more. Once again, this cuts into your ROF.
Those are my opinions. Take em for what it's worth.

I have both. The credit earning potential is pretty much the same. The T34 hits harder but the Lowe is more accurate. Both have strong turrets. Both are slow.
The only other consideration is if you would want to use it to train crews. If you want to train American crews.. go T34. If you want to train German crews, go Lowe.
If the crew feature is not an issue for you then just get which ever one looks cooler to you.
