Because people play it expecting a medium tank, not a tank destroyer without benefits.

This. Yes it's true that the M3 Lee does not have "special" benefits as of a tank destroyer but it's gun truly defines it's strength and recognition in-game. I personally had a good time with it as it taught me a valuable lesson about supporting behind the front lines.

Like I would always suggest, play it as a Tank Destroyer.

Im here as a representaive of 95% of the community to say this:

"The M3Lee is a terrible, terrible, terrible obstacle to overcome on the way to better tanks. The worst tank in WOT. That is all."

Better to encounter it now than later in higher tiers. I much rather play the M3 Lee over the JP4 (I haven't tried it yet but I heard it sucks).

Ehh, playing the JP4 now, its not that bad, the first 4k of exp were hell until I could get the tracks, but after that, its not been too bad

Well, M3 drivers obviously don't have a choice but to play it as a TD.  In the game it might be listed as a med, but practically it's nothing more than a high-profile, thin-skinned TD, with none of the benefits and all the penalties of a TD.  Yes, the gun is good, especially it's RoF, but it's wasted on the M3.  I was very happy to get out of it and into the M4.

the jagdpziv is horrible, not being able to do anything (but scout) better than the SU-100 when elited.

Also, having to grind 60k exp to get to the jagdpanther sucks.

Yeah, but you have to grind about that for any tier 7 so its not a big deal, and its a decent tank with the 88

Honestly i loved my M3 it reminds me of a weak version of the M4A3E2 , with strong sloped frontal armor , i love the gun great gun and fast firing, good sniper ,it dont recall playing it like a TD more like a sniper/breakthrough tank with support ,it was great I loved that tank and cant wait to buy it again so i can go for my T1 , idk i really love that tank its a jack of all trades and remember distance is your friend

Because people like to jump on bandwagons, and or the tank suck with a bad crew.

Elite with 100% crew the Lee kicks ass.

What's even more funny is, it kicked ass on the German tanks it encountered in the desert too in real life, the PIII and PIV with short 50 and 75mm guns were easy meat for the Lee.

Hell the M3 halftrack based TD with the Shermans 75 took them out no problem. They even accounted for a tiger or two.

it awsome when u have a 100% crew and it also a good way to train crew to move to a new tank

M3 Lee = Popcorn.  I love the popping sound they make when my Marder breaks one open !

I played south Encounter on Siegfried Line the other day and set up in my usual spot covering the field while my allies all headed for town.  A minute or so later two Lees show up in formation about 50m apart and about 200m away.  It took three shots to kill each one and they barely flinched the whole time.  It was only on my last shot that the trailing Lee decided to maybe turn to see where the shots were coming from, but that just made it easer to hit him.  No return fire or anyting - just two Lees in, six shots back and two Lees down.

For some very starnge reason I still actually feel kind of bad about that little slaughter . . . :Smile_sad:

You say that now, but you little OP Marder got hit with the Nerf bat. It's no longer going to be a standout, and will be easy Lee meat.

95%? Where the hell do you get THAT number from? You pull it out your ass? Im guessing you did. Most players I know either loved it or didnt mind playing it. Terrible obstacle? Lol. Besides the T-28 w/85mm, its the best tier 4 medium in my OPINION... opinion... thats where you got the 95% from... got it now.
