On Ensk I usually start slow and see if I can find a seam because the map is so tiny, it is hard to go anywhere without being seen as soon as you start out.  At the end, I couldn't see which way the 29 was facing but he saw me, so I was trying to keep him distracted for the T20 while I moved to where I could get a shot.

For 14,315 battles in my Cougar, I had never gotten a Raider Medal.   Most Scouting styles and hunting Arty just aren't conducive to remaining unseen an entire battle.  Then, on my 14,316th battle I drew Ensk; little baby Ensk map with a bunch of high level tanks.  Earning a Raider Medal was the last thing on my mind, although I was determined to try to stay hidden for awhile then try to help pick off the wounded warriors.  As things turned out, their entire team went west.  I followed a group of mediums up the East Side and ended up on cap with no one having seen me.  With a screen of tanks behind their force and in between the enemy and myself, I sat on cap and earned a 100% Invader.  We slowly lost the tank battle but we won the war because no one ever even attempted to come break my cap.  I was so not thinking of a Raider Medal, I didn't even know I won it til just now when I was looking at some other medal totals and noticed I had earned a Raider somehow.  I had to go back and look at replays to see where I got it...lol.

So here it is:  a Raider on Ensk!

Many times, in a similar setup, this is the type of Order of Battle where I would Banzai early on, hoping our Arty could give us an early lead and take 2-4 of theirs out of the game.  However, their 13 90 tried doing that and by the time he was dead and I was headed back to the front lines I had seen our Arty was having an off game.  So, I decided to go slow and Ninja.  Our Arty even admitted at the end they didn't go a good job.
I say all this for one reason.   I have no idea what the Arty's Eff Ratings are but what if they had been great and I used XVM?  I would have barged in, died for nothing, and we would have been short a tank.  Great players have bad battles.  Bad players have great battles. XVM can't tell you when those will occur.  Watch the mini-map.  Watch how tanks are doing and base your in-game decisions on how people are playing THIS battle; not on what some homogenized, completely sterile, number tells you.
This replay also points out the earning power of a Cougar when you combine Ninja scouting with modest damage.  It isn't going to net you 100K, but it CAN give you decent bucks.

This Assault Mode game turns out to be a shooting contest between the Rebel Army frontalarmour's IS and my VK-2801.  He ended up with 10 kills and the Top Gun, but I end up with 6 kills, the Sniper Medal and most importantly, the WIN. The middle part of the battle reminded me a bit of a shooting gallery at the fair, the way the Rebel Forces lined up on top the hill so nicely.  Their key offensive broken, the Rebels laid down their arms and returned home to stage camel races for tourists just outside of El Halluf.

We start the game with 4 Cockroaches per side.  I call ELC AMXs that because they remind me roaches - little flat bugs that scurry about real fast but are easy to kill.  I monitor the middle of the map until the path to the Hill is clear, then I climb up and unleash my 105mm...

Sometimes you try hard but come up short.   Note the T-50 at the end trying to screw up my position on the T95.   He could have helped a lot more by going off and engaging another tank.  A T95 is helpless against a 2801 who has his rear.

Well my brother, another VK driver, has told me about your play for some time.  I play the Leopard myself and may buy a VK but not certain yet.  In any case last evening I decided to sit down and watch a few films.   Ummmmm, WOW!   Really a pleasure to watch your games and see this great tank in action.  A few questions if you have the time.

1. It may have just been my perception but it seems you bounce A LOT of shots as you roll about the board.  I can't remember the last time my Leopard consistently bounced shots! LOL  Any thoughts on why you think that occurs with greater regularity on the VK?  Speed? Sloped Armor? You are just amazing.

2. That HE gun you have seemed to do damage pretty consistently.  When I use HE rounds in my tanks I have gotten a very mediocre result with many shots simply doing nothing.  Is that canon just that good?  I mean seeing it in action like that is fast convincing me to move up to the VK2801!

3. You are an outstanding driver and very good at shooting on the run, which is most certainly a large part of your success.  My driving skills are less developed so to speak. LOL  In any case, you drive like I do in that you mostly keep your view just over the back of your tank but that usually indicates less overall awareness of the tanks around the board.  Do you make very extensive use of the mini-map or do you more or less trust your instincts regarding maps and likely zones of contact to direct your activity?

Thanks again and again it was a real pleasure to sit back and watch that German scout master the board over and over again. Hope to see you around but NOT on the other side of the field.

1)  Well, the Battles I don't bounce shots, I die in so I don't survive to do well enough to post replays...lol.  I think it also has to do with trying to give the enemy angles instead of flat surfaces and I have a pretty good internal timer on when to turn slightly to throw a shot off so it misses or grazes me.

2)  The 105mm on the Cougar is better than non-DERP guns as far as doing HE damage.  Using HE on your Leopard will never come close to duplicating the damage you get with a 2801.

3)  I use the mini-map extensively.  Situational Awareness is the single best skill to have.

His game handle is Mephto.  I think you may have spoken to him a time or two.  Thanks for the answers.  They are as I expected especially with regards to situational and map awareness.  It seems to me that it is a skill that can be hard to learn but that those who have it or master it early do SUBSTANTIALLY better than most players.  Good watching and I will watch more as you post.  I always like seeing German tanks roll.

I have only been on the port map 2 times but my first kill there was my KV-1 ramming and killing a M5. think that map will see lot of ram kills. Great job as always Tazilon.

Ohh one thing I just saw on the replay as you first go over the bridge there a a sign for would of war planes on top of the building to your right lol. Nice plug WG

It was easy for me to see it I have had only 2 matchs on the map so any repalys on that map I watch to get more of the map. I was looking around for stuff.
