Maus strats in solo pubs?

Recently got my Maus and I'm still trying to get the best out of it. I only play solo in pubs. Any advice would be welcomed.
I find my strat will vary based on the number of arty, total Tier 10s, number of hard hitting TDs and of course the map.
Generally I'll pick a path and try to keep moving. If I get tied up, I try to tie up at least 3 enemy tanks, hopefully one or more of their top tiers. I figure this gives my team an advantage. Arty is the biggest problem with this keep moving strat.
City maps are great I can find a key spot, Sidescrape and dominate that area.
I guess my question to vet Maus drivers is: Do you hang back and wait to see how a match is going to play out? Or do you start moving right away and do you best to push your team forward?
Also, what do you do when there are 3+ arty on the other team on a map with not much cover?
To the non-Maus drivers here's a tip. Follow the Maus, but not too close, stay a square or more back. Let the other team think the Maus is all alone. Nothing draws out the enemy like a Maus that looks like it doesn't have any support. The enemy will try to get to the sides and back of the Maus and you can get kills and help your team by killing those flankers. The Maus can deal with whatever is in front of him, you cover his sides and back.

I believe there is a decent guide on the Maus on the German Heavy Tanks section of the forum. As for how to play them, my clan uses them as road blocks on constricted maps, and damage sponges so tanks with higher penetration guns but weaker armor have some sort of mobile cover with them. I really don't know what the Maus' place in pubs is apart from scaring the enemy and bullying anything and everything that can't shoot through it.

if ur maus is the topdog, then it would be wise to communicate in the beginning where u wanna go. to hang back the thickest HT in game is such a waste not to mention its very slow and probably could be too late to assist a flank so lead the way .

I do only have 200 battles in it right now. But I did have around 600 battles with it in Beta. I would say if there is a city generally speaking go into it. Try to sidescrape, don't be reckless and charge out. Play it safe but move up when you have to. I would recommend waiting just abit at the start of the battle to see where everyone is going.

Ok.. it might be just me.. but when i see a Maus in my team i wan't it to lead the way, or choke a flank(with support ofc) so the team can zerg rush the other side. I wouldn't recommend waiting at base, maybe 14 guys in your team is waiting for you to lead or see which way you are going so they can make their move.
