Buishcti beating A-team looks like a surprise to me. BoA RtR Joint operations is a bit of a surprise in the top 16 but does not look like they faced a really good team. Any other underdogs?

I'd nominate Stary Night and RIver of Blood as surprise losers in the round of 16, but it isn't like they lost to cupcake teams.

SIMP, Cazadores, Team Curse and G Banned Angels were seeded to win in their brackets based on past tourny performance. ACES beat Cazadores throwing that off, but imho thats one of the more competetive brackets. so now ill guess SIMP, ACES, Team Curse and G Banned Angels for the win.

Team Curse will have a tough match I believe tomorrow night with whoever wins tonight on our side of the bracket.

sure, there are a lot of capable teams. and imho the format of this tourny really seems to emphasize luck more then some others. only needing two wins and with so few tanks per side, one lucky shot/ammo rack/etc can really swing a match leading to an overall win (compared to the classic with larger teams and more wins needed).

For tonights battles my guesses at winners are S.I.M.P., WAR & PEACE, Team Fail, Aces, Team Curse, [S.I.M.P], IR Moscow, and -G- Banned Angles but I would only be willing to put money on two or three of the battles.

A lot of it really is dumb luck with only needing 2 wins, 3 of 8 would have been nice with 3minute breaks.

Yeah, two wins will make something like a lucky ammo rack into a massive swing, so strange results are entirely possible.  I was a bit surprised at the Buishcti result, though.

Buishcti continues as my underdog surprise. A team captain who does not have any members from own clan. Two unclanned and two from a 5 person clan. A member with 50 battles played and 34% win ratio. Only 7 members so everyone is likely playing. Beat a strong tournament team 2 to 0 where average win percent difference is around 7%. What is the secret sauce they running?

Well, There was not surprise for us. Any team could defeat us, especially well skilled Mercenaries.

We could not assemble our minds after Saturday loss at all. Kinda 2 major tournaments back to back is hard (for me personally). Did not practice much for neither one. We were driving our tanks nowhere, shooting nowhere... Scout loss on a 10th second tool us even more, and set the sad tone for entire round.

I wish NA teams to succeed in Moscow.

As much as I hate talking like this about anyone...
Surprises will happen every tournament, but in this case I'm seriously wondering if this isn't some kind of smurf setup. SuperZuk registered in april 2011 and played 50 battles over a year time and magically smacks face, while his his ratio is as bad as an arty player? Aexis played 65% of his battles in tier 8s, yet does less than 500 damage per battle (and less than 630 per battle if you only count his Löwe). They also have decent players, but none is even near special. If these guys are legit and are players that could easily carry entire pub teams, yet don't try: well done! If they are smurfs, well done on taking the underdog position.

As ed_anger mentioned: they still have to faces Aces, a team which I held in high regard and expected to show some real business and proved as being able to do so. If they beat them, more kudos to their awesomeness.

Its funny how many people dont know much about aces. I only know about them from when Zardnaar joined Kbear ( he came from aces) and I was able to meet/ tank with a few of them. Zard always touted them as excellent tankers who dont play CW.

Well done guys and gl.

I'm surprised by the teams going.  Everyone thought SIMP would make it, including me.

Aw snap, this thread is linked in the official WoT News posting about the final 4.

From All of us here at -G- Banned Angels, we'd like to thank the horrible AOD management for banning us and consequently forcing us to win all these tournaments. At least they still have their....landing clan...?

I was going to fill bad for either S.I.M.P. or WAR & PEACE. I felt they were both top 4 teams and besides having to meet each other went through the hardest bracket overall by far. Goon, 2 nuke teams, Rota/NDP, and Starry Night to go with top two was a pretty insane 7 teams in the bracket.

I thought bracket two was the easiest. I also thought Aces would beat Cazadores. River of Blood and Team Fail had to meet early. Buischti just was the big surprise.

I had to laugh, we get asked a lot why we don't play CW etc. People think we just play TC's to boast our stats and stuff. Could not be further from the truth. Since I joined the clan I have raised my win % by 5% and counting, doing it by playing with a great group of guys in platoons and at most we play 2 or 3% of the time in a TC and the rest is in PUB's.... period.

I think ACES is showing through these tournaments we can hold our own just fine. Mad respect for everyone that goes into these things and GL to all the teams going on a trip of a lifetime! o7
