I have been playing with Arty for a few days now, and to me, it seems like the Sturmpanzer, is an OK machine...I can unlock the Wespe but I want peoples opinions both Pros and Con's on both, Or should I just get the Wespe and have both Arty's ??

As always Thanks for any advice

Well something won't let me vote in your poll but I preferred the Wespe myself.  I'd give you reasons why but it's been way too long since I played them.  :P

IMHO - Do what it takes to get past both and get the Hummel...these SPG are too low on the scale to put this much worry into!

The Wespe has a longer range.

Wespe - is awesome It's the only Arty I have kept. I have unlocked all the way to the grille but I find the wespe more satisfying to play even moreso than my SU-26. The range and accuracy are awesome. The ap shells make it real nice. You can just start every match scope out the opositions arty hangouts and get some easy arty kills right off the start.

I don't really know much about the early german spg, seeing as I kinda skipped more than half the spg tree by jumping sideways from the PZ3/4 to the Hummel :Smile_harp: , but I did have a wespe, and I can tell you that it really quite effective. It has a gun capable of dropping shells accurately from one corner of the biggest maps to another, and the 105mm gun is decent in terms of firepower and reload times. Down sides are that it has a low top speed and turns like a glacier, but for arty, these are secondary attributes. It also carries a very large number of shells for an arty, which is never a bad thing.
Pros: Really solid gun with very long range. Large amount of ammo.
Cons:Sluggish.

Hummel is where the real action is at though, firepower of a 150mm gun combined with the mobility of a PZ3.

I played up the arty line back in beta and went through the sturmpanzer.  When the game went live I went through the wespe.  They are both good little spgs but each has significantly different playstyle.

The wespe has an AMAZING range considering its tier.   It can nearly shoot corner to corner across most maps.  The down side is it doesn't do much damage even on a direct hit because it has horrible penetration, has virtually no splash radius, and isn't terribly accurate so you miss a lot at the longer ranges that you'll use it at.

The sturmpanzer has a much shorter range (about half a map) so has to be played in a close support role.  It has 50% more penetration than the wespe, and does lower damage, but because of the penetration difference it actually causes MORE damage to its targets, especially when you take into account the larger splash radius.  The wespe is more of a taste of what is to come in later tiers, while the sturmpanzer still has low tier accuracy (the reticle will zero down so small that IT fits inside the target tank, not the other way around.

Over all, I found the grind in the sturmpanzer to be faster and easier than that of the wespe, but the wespe actually prepared me for the later tiers better.
