I've always "dream" of getting a Tiger II in the German line and I'm still grinding my way through the PzKpfw IV to unlock the VK3601. At the same time I feel that I am struggling in the German line, you guys can check up my stats, and perhaps the learning curve is too great for me. And rumours of the upcoming nerf-ing of the PzKpfw IV is not really encouraging. Since 7.4 patch, I've started thinking of diverting to other nation's tech tree lines sooner than I wanted too. So I started playing the T1 Cunningham in the last patch and MS-1 this patch to unlock all the possible tree lines of both nations.

Yet due to my limited garage space, just 6 to be exact, I don't know which route to pursuit. At the same time, I still wanna hang on to my German dream but I don't know how long will it take me. So in order not to get bored with all the grinding, I am interested to find out more regarding the American and Russian tree lines.

For the Americans, I'm always looking to own the M18 Hellcat, M36 Slugger, the M48 Patton and perhaps the M103. Which American tree should I start first that offers a different style of play from the Germans?

For the Russians, I'm looking at skipping the BT series onto the T-34s up to the T-62A and also skipping the T-28 onto the KV-1 -> KV-1S -> IS and KV-13. Which Russian tree should I start first that offers a different style of play from the Germans?

Pls note that I'm really a bad player and I do not have an premium account.

There are certain lines that are simply newbie friendly, both by ease of grind and ease of use. Sad thing is you wont fidn any of such tanks in German tech tree.
Aside from M3 Lee, which aside from being horrible shadow of a tank, you can get a lot of easy fun in US medium line, do not even try to buy M5, it is pseudo scout just like Pz38nA, M4 Sherman is quick to upgrade and very newbie friendly by use of 105mm howitzer. Both E8 and E2 are fine machines, one is armor other is agility, but both have insane rate of fire.
Other easy line is Soveit Heavy line, but only IS-7 branch ( IS-4 branch is horrible to upgrade ).
While in US and Soviet line you get a lot of frontline, fast paced, gun blazing fun, other lines are rather different.
German line is sniping and sniping ( and raming stuf ), certain traits of German higher tiers makes them rather harder to use than Soviet and US.
French tanks shoudl be totally avoided by newcomers as on low tiers they can seem horrible and on higher they are just hard to use.

Short version: dump the German line for now and go for Shermans and KV's.

Nope, you are quite good for a begginer.

OK, your end goal, I'm pretty sure you're like me and want German tanks, is to get the King Tiger and eventually the dominating E-75. I can tell you this, there are a lot of tier 7 German tanks I love. I bought most of them back after selling them and moving on. I don't think I will ever buy back a T20 or a KV-3, I don't miss them at all. Possibly the T29, It's one of the best tier 7 Heavies (in this game). I still have to buy it and see if I like it yet, but having played against it, it's tough even for a tier 8 to face.

While you grind up to whatever German tank you want, go ahead buy whatever else and play them too. Know this, you can always sell a tank and not lose your progress on it. I've done it tons of times. Also as the game progresses you either will break down and buy a premium account for a month or two, or you're going to take FOREVER to get out of a tier 7.

No shame at all in throwing some money at a game you love to make it better for yourself, and sometimes garage slots are half off, or when you have a certain tank in your garage, you get a free slot after you sell their crap tank they give you to replace whatever it is you kpt to get a free slot.

Go IS line if you like alpha and mobility, KV if you like avergage armor all around but low mobility, Med line for even more modility with the cost of armor or firepower, depending on tank. American heavys go hull down or die. Meds also have strong turret. M18 is very fun, go for it. i think best choices are turreted td IS and ru med line
