Is the Type 59 worth it?

Absolutely. It's certainly on par with the Lowe and T34 for its ability to generate credits. It's a very fun tank to play. It's not terrifying though, and never was.

I will never buy a tank again from WOT...They nerfed the 59 so bad how can u trust them not to do it again...

Omg do not listen to this guy he has a 38% win rate over 10k games i mean bots have a higher rate then that.

But yes this tank is worth it if you like a medium play style and you are looking for a premium tank your only real other choice for a mediumish play style is a IS6 which is way overpriced imo.

Without equipment on it, no. With Wet Ammo Rack, Rammer, and V-Stab. My lord it's got the potential of a non-premium tier 8 medium tank. If it's not played like a lemming, I find it to be ridiculously overpowered in the right situation.

Th 59 is by far the best premium tank you can get.  Like any tank, it shines in the hands of a good player.

1) Troll turret.  Turret will bounce tier 9s and even 10s.  Vs bad players in pub matches you can get steel wall just bouncing shots off that glorious turret.  Add in good frontal armor in general and this tank can dominate so long as you don't give the enemy too much side or rear to shoot.

2) Matchmaking is pretty good honestly.  75+% of the games you are top tier.  And when there are tier 9+s, you can still pen them so who cares.

3) Acceleration is meh.  Yes they nerfed its squirliness.  But it is still just as good as any tier 8 medium.  You still have mroe than enough speed to get where you need to be, and to be a pretty solid brawler.  You just cant circle around people like a T-50-2 anymore.  In general, it isn't meant to be a batchat.  If you want to wolfpack with mediums, id suggest following the flanking strategy of a patton.

It is a great tank.  As soon as it went back on sale I bought one.  Know your weaknesses and you can do well.  My advice sounds a lot like the same id give for an M6 us heavy.  only difference is that the 59 is damn good.

- Don't charge in alone like a dumbass batchat.
- Don't let anyone shoot at your sides or rear.
- Hull down like a heavy when you can.  That turret is lulzy.
- WET AMMO RACK.  Its optional whether you go with WAR or GLD.  But personally I love my wet ammo rack now that I have one.

80 or so battles without a single ammo rack, It doesn't seem to be as bad as I thought it would be. I get a lot of damage towards it, but it never blows up. Kind of annoying when tier 7s pen my front turret and damage it, no idea how they do it, maybe HE or something but really.. I angle my frontal hull armor really well yet I still get penned like butter :\. Weird how things change when you actually play the tank, I used to never be able to pen it.

Still a great tank though, I run vents, rammer, and vert stab. If you feel like being a bit more safe then get a Wet Ammo rack, and switch it out with the rammer. Vents is 2.2% to pretty much every thing in your tank other than armor and hp. 2.2% to aim time, reload time, a couple other gun stats, 2.2% to acceleration, 2.2% to camo, repair, and firefighting skills, 2.2% to view range and radio range. Much better than a rammer on most tanks. Get the tank if you need a premium and have the money, definately isn't a waste.

There are 3 places on top the turret that can be penned by 130 pen or less guns and next to the gun is a small weak point where 200 pen guns like the long 88/american 105 can pen.

The frontal armor start at 170mm of protection and can be angled to about 200mm of protection. (lower hull is only 140mm but can only be hit if you crest a hill.)
