RCpack for 8.3

----------------------------------------------

Replay Compatibility Pack

If you do not trust in safety of files I will attach

simply do not download them.

In case of your utter stupidity, I tell before hand:

"It is your own fault, I hate you anyway."

All credits for success goes to me.

All credits for failure goes to you.

All files comes from clean, non patched, full installations of WoT.

Any cases of file editions will be throughly described.

Anything you do wrong is your own fault.

Always make backup.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Troubleshooting

Step #1

Run WorldOfTanks.exe without opening replay file

Success = login form appears on your screen.

Requirements for success:

- matching Scripts

- matching GUI

- matching Fmod DLL's ( only for 7.1.1 and 7.1 )

Game not loading = one of above is screwed.

Game loaded but game screen is weird = GUI is screwed.

Step #2

Open replay file with modification of WoT from Step #1

Success = team roster and loading bar properly displayed

Requirements for success:

- matching Scripts

- matching GUI

- matching additional files ( only for 7.1.1 and 7.1 ) ( work for 7.1 is still under progress )

Scrambled team roster, blue font, voice chat icon glowing etc = screwed GUI

Progress bar is full but battle have not started = screwed Scripts and/or additional files ( 7.1.1 and 7.1 only )

Step 3

If replay is playing but something is weird - use report formula located on bottom of this post.

If everything above failed: use report formula located on bottom

of this post and wait until I will have time to review it.

Empty loading screen:

Most possibly incorrect .exe version, known to happen with 7.2 and older.

Incorrect data on loading screen:

Most possibly incorrect GUI files, know to happen with 7.2 and older.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WoT utilities

File association purge

Useful when .replay files are linked to incorrect .exe

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WoT 7.5 backups

Scripts 0.7.5

Main executable 0.7.5

GUI 0.7.5 package

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RCpack 0.8.0

Host: WoT 0.8.0

Beta compatibility with:

WoT 0.7.5

Download

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RCpack 0.7.5

Host: WoT 0.7.5

Compatibility with:

WoT 0.7.1

WoT 0.7.2

WoT 0.7.3

WoT 0.7.4

WoT 0.7.5

Download

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How to use:

1. Download.

2. Unpack.

3. Place RCpack directory directly in WoT root.

4. Go to RCpack directory

5. Select batch file with version number you wish to use.

6. Launch it.

7. Watch replay.

In order to play enable 0.7.5 version by launching proper batch file.

I will not name batch files

if you are unable to identify them by yourself

then this guide is not for you.

Fully automated, noob-proof version will be available when it will be done.

WARNING!

Replays from both 0.7.1.1 and 0.7.1 can be problematic.

In case of replay not loading properly:

1. Make list of all tanks participating in battle.

2. Subtract from said list tanks that were in replays you watched correctly.

3. Submit full report using form described on bottom of this post containing results of previous two steps.

Data from reports will be analyzed, results tested and finally package will be updated after correcting.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Success/Error reporting form:

Reports of successful test must be in following form:

Replay Compatibility Pack - Success

[replay version] - [player version] - [tank1], [tank2], [tank3]...

Reports of failed test must be in following form:

Replay Compatibility Pack - Fail

[replay version] - [player version] - [tank1], [tank2], [tank3]...

Useful attachments:

1. Screenshot of  error - often I will be able to name your problem from just it

Embed it into your post with [ image ] tags and enclose in [ spoiler ] to save space.

This way I will not have to jump over random sites just to see some image.

Recommended image hosting: ImageShack.

2. Screenshots of your wot directory and subdirs containing mods.

Same instructions as above.

3. Replay file: preferred hosting sites:

a) MWreplays.com - it will allow me to check a lot of information without reviewing replay,

thus creating possibility for quicker response - not working for 7.1.1 and 7.1.

b) Ge.tt - currently my favorite file hosting - no registration and ease of access.

c) MediaFire.com - it is still usable, tho I would prefer to use ge.tt over it.

Please do not use:

a) Anything with captcha, it tires my eyes.

b) Non English sites, I do not know every language, and Google translations are far from perfect.

c) Sites with tons of commercials, in case of commercial with sound, I will close site and refuse to open it again.

d) sites with unsafe for work content ( eg. porn commercials ), using such sites creates problem with fellow human beings around me.

Of course you are allowed to write report in any other form.

Tho I - or rather search query - will simply ignore them.

So waste your time if you wish, I will not waste mine.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't know how many others are mac users who boot into windows to play WoT like myself, but I do recall being able to straight open WoT replays with Quicktime and or upload them to YouTube that way. I'll check it out tomorrow morning and edit my post.

Its rather impossible to play .replay files with any video player.

Replay files are just set of intstructions over time line about everything that has happened in game, no graphical data are stored in it, therefore, it requires host with such graphical data - here we use WoT itself for it.

That would be like feeding a video player a movie script and getting a full movie out of it.

Imagine the possibilities...

This has the potential to let me view my old replay from the night before .7.3 was deployed?  Will try tonight.

LOL well something in 7.5 change, maybe the format? As I'm on my mac OS side now, and can't replay the the files like before. This will just drive me to find a work around now.

You recall wrongly.
Every version have (almost)exactly same .replay format. No changes whatsoever. Compatibility issues are fault of changes in game, not in replay system.

Replay Compatibility Pack - Fail
[0.7.2] - [0.7.5 w/ 7.2 pack installed] - [IS-4], [Panther], [Panther II], [M41], [AMX 12T]

Copied my whole WOT 7.5 folder to a new directory, removed all installed mods (from the wot/mods/.7.5 folder) and then installed the scripts (to res_mods/.7.5), exe (overwrote base), and gui (res_mods/.7.5) packages under the .7.2 headding.

Screenshot of loading screen.  Bar fills, never loads.

Edit - i do have a WORKING (as in views replays) .7.4.1 client.  I made a copy of the working folder before i updated to .7.5,  might have to do that from now on, if i wish to view old replays.

I can't really upload the whole thing though.  With all my replays and mods gone, it's still up past 12 gigs in size.  My .7.5 client is over 16 Gigs in size with my mods and replays (and thats only keeping my replays since 3/30/2012)

Please upload .replay file to either http://mwreplays.com, http://ge.tt, http://mediafire.com. It will help with test tho even without it I should have enough replays to recreate roster.

This visual error is caused by incorect GUI files, check following:

- directory structure inside of res_mods, uploaded package contained GUI.pkg, in order to use it in res_mods it requires to be unpacked - it containts GUI directory that should be placed in 0.7.5 directory.

- if above fails, try replacing GUI.pkg file in res\packages.

- replacing scripts in res directory insdead of res_mods, WoT is known to not using everything placed in res_mods.

I will be able to test your case in 5 hours, so give in 6 it should be done, you will recive private message containing sollution.

Original post will be updated with each report containing new issues to create full troubleshotting section.

Thank you for your cooperation.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today I will create package for 7.1.1 ( compatibile with 7.1 by default ) and then I will proced to create utility allowing for easier mode switching by use of paths.xml file.

No problem, i won't be able to upload the replay until i get home though, which is roughly 8 hours from now.  I can answer your bullet points right now, i did unpack the GUI.pkg folder, along with scripts, as well, and put them into the Res_mods/.7.5 directory, with my second attempt.  I did originally replace the .pkg files in the res/scripts directory.  Both produced the same result, nearly to the letter on the replay.

Just half of hour left for me so in about two I will check how things are.
Yesterday I randomly looked into paths.xml file and noticed that you can skip overwriting files by simply remaping paths in this file, so after putting all versions into neatly packed directories whole process will limits itself to replacing one file.

Ah, thank you, it worked nearly PERFECTLY!  Had come across the same issue, and checked your screenshot of what the two folders should look like inside.  Turns out when i extracted the two packages with winrar, that winrar threw an extra folder in the middle of it's path.  Example: WOT/res_mods/0.7.5/gui/gui/ or WOT/res_mods/0.7.5/scripts/scripts were the path it ended up extracting to.  I just cut the files from in the second folder and into the first one and then removed the empty second when done.  LogMeIn isn't good for viewing streaming replays, but it worked enough to let me know it works just fine when i get home!

Many thanks! I can now record a few games and finally get them on youtube!

All packages I upload are prepared for "Extract Here". Example is GUI package, but today I plan to create single file package with version switch utility so consider current files are already obsolete.

The plan is to create utility that will locate and parse all replays, detect version and launch them in properly changed WoT.

Replay files contains replay system version numbers, but same version is used by multiple WoT versions, however, MWreplays seems to somehow detect version correctly, so I will just need to dig in Google. Or be lazy and write program that will find common part of all replays of same version, then find varying part betwen versions. Tho that would be evil and unclean.

It was a mistake on my part.  The files i downloaded were fine, i just forgot i set my winrar to add an extra folder level by default when extracting, based on the package's name.  I fixed it and it works just fine now.

That does sound like a good idea though.  I'm not much help to figure that out, but good luck if you decide to go after that version-switcher.

Don't worry, even with backups I had to reinstall 7.5 four times before I made all those package. Somehow I never thought that full backup would be good idea, at least I had full installation file downloaded.

My own idea, mostly because of how bad i screw things up the first time i try them, with mods like this, i usually test them out in a copy of the client i made.  Which is exactly what i did.  I still screwed one up though and had to recopy my ~16 GB folder once, because i overwrote the GUI and Scripts packages in the packages folder with yours.

As it turns out, it didn't like that, and i had to re copy it.  One good note though, with .7.2 replays, it uses the OLD REPLAY CONTROLS!  Left/right arrows for speed manipulation, no jumping 20 seconds, and down arrow resets speed to 1x, never did figure out what up did.  It did work perfectly, except the chat didn't work right, but i didn't need it.  Apparantly i thought i did better in one of those two battles than i actually did.  Oh well, that's what old replays show you, how bad you really were a ways back.

Thanks for making this mod, it will let me replay some games i believe i wished to record, my only problem is, now i have to FIND them in nearly 5 months worth of replays...  That will be all kinds of fun, and i'll just do one or two a night maybe (so basically the next few months).
