Posted an in-depth weak spots guide of the tier 5 heavy tank KV-1 over on my blog. Breaks down the KV-1 into a frontal, angled, and side view and shows players where to shoot he KV-1 in each situation. Enjoy!

Very nice, and almost makes up for your 105 leFH18B2 review calling it one of the better premium tanks (it is the worst SPG and worst premium I have played). :P

40mm at 65degree angle is 106mm effective, not 65mm effective.
I've noticed these weakpoints myself when playing my KV-1. Luckily not many people know where to shoot.

Will have to double check that, I use 3rd party armor values :)

Actual armor thickness(a) divided by the cosine of the slope(b) equals effective armor thickness©. For example a / b(cos) = c, or in this case, 40mm / 65(cos) = 106mm.

All the math is in this topic I posted a long time ago, and it even accounts for angled sloped armor.

Thank you very much.

I have been having a very difficult time in dealing with this monster in my M10 and M18 TDs.

Hello. I've been playing for 3 weeks and driving KV-1 for a week. I'd say that there is more spots which are penetrable so far. Bottom of the hull- I'd mark it green, the edge between 'four' and 'six' areas in that guide is quite vulnerable to any damage. I also noticed that the higher level of opponents, the more often fire of engine taking place. Using 57-mm gun keeps you more often in the 'sandbox' whereas 85-mm is a ticket to 7 tiers (and better profit)! However I'm having great fun with this tank and сertainly recommend it to new players. Can't wait for next round..

P.S. I've read that 50-mm german anti-tank cannon was able to penetrate KV's rear hull armor and side of the turret. And KV's were reinforced with 20-30 mm screen armor! And some said it's overpowered in this game..

I updated the guide the other day so it's armor is now listed in much more depth.

I wasn't sure if there was a new weak spot added on the KV-1 that would cause more than normal chance of fire kills? I figure it was either that or I just had the worst run of bad luck ever... three battles in a row I was one shotted due to fire. Once from a KV-1S, M4 and this last battle from a PZIII (I think it was PZIII/IV, but was too busy trying to see where the shot came from to catch the name too well).

KV-1 has a high chance of fire if you allow them to hit behind your turret in the hull.  Whenever I face one I can light them(and most KV series tanks) on fire within 3 shots.
