I know we all have had a hit for no damage at some point. I have always accepted the normal explanations for this such as "it penned the spaced armor but did not pen the hull", "RNG", "It means you crit hit a module/crew member", or "it was swamp gas".

So let me give you a quick back story on what happened the other night...

I was in a training room with my brother running some armor tests on the JPE-100. After we were all done my bro wanted to try and drive his Tier 2 Tetrarch into my JPE at full speed to see if he would die on impact. So, since he helped me out with the armor test I said sure. Lucky for me I left FRAPS running and caught the most damning evidence I have ever seen that pen for no damage is a bug. Here is a video clip of what happened.

(Make sure you watch it in full screen with HD res on)

After he did not die I just sat there in disbelief at what I saw. Lucky for me I saw the red FPS numbers in the corner of the screen and realized I had it all recorded with FRAPS. I was talking to my bro, as I started to ram him to death, and he said that he had no dead crew members and no damage to his modules.

Something needs to be done about this bug. I have seen posts by Devs stating that the no damage penetrating hits are not a bug. If they are not a bug then what exactly happened? So after being told to send it to support I figured I would create this thread for people to post replays, screen shots, or YouTube videos to report penetrating hits for no damage. Let's see if we can get their attention to fix this problem.

his armor is so thin for your shell it pass threw it for no damage.shermen tanks in the Pacific had to switch to HE rounds to do damage to Japanese tanks due to there armor being to thin for AP rounds

His armor should be more than 3 times thinner than your shell thickness, and there was no angling fr t t deflect off of, so that should he an auto pen. I think there really might be a bug Afterall :Smile_confused:

Yes but that is a 170mm shell passing through the compartment of the tank. At least some module damage or crew death I mean, the gun is like bigger than that turret,

Wow this is some hard evidence of there being a 0% hit bug.  Good work Death and +1 for you.  I think the dev's have some explaining to do.

That was my reaction when I saw it happen. After a few swears I asked him "Did you take any crew or mod damage?" He said "No, nothing... How the hell did that happen?!". I am going to get him a training room later tonight and see if we can replicate it.

At first I thought because of third person view you shot over him (smoke made it seem it blew past it)...but you can clearly see the bullet hole over to the left (right for us) of the gun...

That's just...really, a 50hp Tet taking a 170mm shell to the face and laughing it off...dude...brain went dead, be back when I can formulate something...

Your shell looked to me to have clipped his right tracks and hit the ground (to his right, your left). Track and gun hits are still 0 damage penetrations. Regardless they should have a different dialogue for this sort of thing : 'we hit their tracks' 'we hit their gun' 'that one went right through'.

Oh wait, we have the last one. Brilliant.

This happend to me in a match with my KV-1S a few weeks back. A tier 1 LOLtractor got platooned in the match, and when I found him, I shot him straight in the side with the long 122. No damage whatsoever.

It just happens way to often in the JPE especially!
I have hit a couple of Amx 13 75's or 90's in the side of the turret from 90 degrees square on and got a 0 damage penetration. You can physically see the hole in the side of the turret & yet no damage! Drives me insane!

They say that sometimes a shell is powerful enough to tear straight through a tank's armor and out the other side without causing damage. In some cases, this is realistic - In real life, the 88mm L/71 mounted on King Tigers and Jagdpanthers would pass right through the thin armor of american tanks and out the other side before the charge could detonate.

However, considering the shell in this case is almost the size of the tetrarch, it is not logically possible to do no damage.  The devs need to take another look at their penetration system.

Wow I knew it... if you pause it and click through the :06 second range you can clearly see the shot it dead center on the gun... you can even see the hole at one point, briefly!

This has been pissing me off lately as well...... more and more of "where the hell did that shot go" moments too.

That gun and gunner should at the very least been toast...
