This may be a stupid and un-answerable question, but any information besides the tech tree pictures? I'm quite intrigued to see how the new German Medium line turns up to be like.

You've got that mixed up.
THe one you show at tier 9 is the Group A second submission.
This is the Group B Daimler submission we are likely to get.

This is much closer to what the tier X Leo will look like.

This is the '0-Serie', the last prototype by the winning group before it got serialized.
Source.

Also for funzies this is the AMX-30 prototype.

Far far far down the line. They still have the Brits, Japanese, and other lines to clear up first. Also they only recently announced them so I would guess a year.

not exactly sure how this is going to work  the leopard 1 was a main battle tank not a medium tank

The phrase 'medium tank' basically ended with world war 2, so the T54 etc arent really 'medium' tanks either. After that the medium tank was known as a MBT, main battle tank, and the heavy line was seen as uneconomical and of limited tactical value due to the belief that speed was better than armour. The Soviets found that the 'heavy' IS2's couldnt keep up with the pace of battle once the initial defence cracked in WW2, thus limiting their use to set piece battles and slugging matches in cities.

With the early mid east tank battles, the theory was proven as the MBT bested the 'heavy' IS3's in open terrain combat. Also, infantry AT weapons had become so lethal that slow moving tanks were easily defeated by two man teams using wire guided missles, and no amount of 'pure steel' armour could proctect against them. Soviets used reactive armour to combat HEAT warheads, but it wasnt a guarenteed thing. It wasnt until laminated ceramic/steel armour that tanks had a decent chance of surviving a large calibre heat/HESH warhead.

People call the Panther a main battle tank.
People call the Panther a medium tank.
People call the Panther a heavy tank.
People call the M60 a gun tank.
People call the M60 an MBT.
People call the M48 an MBT.
People call the M48 a medium tank.
People call the T-54 a medium tank.
People call the T-54 an MBT.

The terms "medium tank" and "main battle tank" all depend on the military operating them. There is nothing about the Leopard 1 that makes it any different from an M48A5 yet that's basically what we have in game as a medium tank. The only thing "Main Battle Tank" means is just that, it is the main battle tank for a military. You don't really need 5 different kinds of tanks anymore so just having one mobile one works.

An the Leo1 has 76mm of frontal armor?   Why would anyone wanna drive that?

just go get a French tank, atleast then you have 6 rounds to fire before you die...

I'm really annoyed that I'll have to grind another medium tree to get what is quite possibly the only tank capable of rivaling the batchat.

65 kp/h, amazing mobility across rugged terrain, the british 105, and depending on the model we get, fantastic sloped armor on the turret.  However in terms of armor thickness, lol.

If you look at the existing tech tree posted on the website, you'll see that it comes from the VK 3002 (DB).

Can you post the website please.  the existing tech tree doesn't have it although the VK 3022 (DB) is the obvious choice for it to come off from.

1. It's 3002(DB)
2. It's the main website
2a. Go to here
2b. Then you go here
2c. You land here
2d. And you reach here

I have no idea what tree you're looking at, but the one in 2d is the future of the German tree

Apparently 14.76 rounds per minute @ avg damage 377 = somewhere approaching 6,000 DPM with addition of BIA, Vent etc
That's 2 Maus' or 3 T62A's in 60 seconds.

Not sure how good the rumour mill is on this one but it sure would keep the German fans happy

where the hell did you hear that. I tought the info I got off the RU forums was suspect at best when it was a 2800dpm gun with 370mm pen. What you are saying no matter how bad the armor is sounds so overpowered.

Admittedly, I also smell BS but the info (allegedly) came from one of the WG staff at a US player gathering.

I heard it from a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy ....ad infinitum
