I keep hearing in game how OP the KV1 is at it's tier and lower. I have seen members of my team drive out of thier way to avoid one and other silly things to just get away from it. I am curious. What tier V and lower tanks do KV1 drivers fear? Not respect, not dislike but actually fear.

Thank you for your time.

Depends. With the derp I fear Churchill/T1 for their armor. 85mm, pretty much nothing. 57mm, Churchill, T1, Pz4 for armor again.

If the driver is competent then it'd be a Pz3/4 or a M4 Sherman. Those things can get on your sides/rear before you can even turn the turret 90 degrees.

The Stug if camoed well enough can rip a KV1 to shreds.

Any tier 5 TD that isn't the T49 as long as it's hidden well, however, if I can see the TD then it's dead. Other than that nothing because I use the 85mm.

Hidden Stug with L70; skilled BDR driver doing peekaboo; T1HT behind me and moving fast; Pz IV from far away.

Im the KV1? What do I FEAR?  In TIER FIVE!?  ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!  In T5 the KV1 is absolutely OP as XXXX.  Even in T6, played with even a SNIPPET of brain power, is tough as XXXX there as well.  However, the topic is the KV1 in T5 fearing anything..there is NOTHING to fear in T5.  The Churchill's gun, firing into the KV1 frontally, I will THANK you for that, as each shot fired is one more shot till i get a steel wall.  NOTHING but another KV1 even makes me think twice about wheeling around the corner and blowing it to all hell n back.....

Believe me, if you cant WIN in a KV1 now, you should just uninstall WoT....the KV1 is the absolute most EASY street tank in this game.  YOu have ONLY to go into battle, turn your front, and fire till the game ends....unless your totally brain dead, you can face XXXX in a KV1 with minimal effort.

Then its that awkward moment when you realize taht BDR cant bounce any of your return shots and the Panzer IV? lol? You would worry about it?  ppfftt.....If the Pzr IV is far away, its not hard, you just aim for the hull and fire......it's most liekly the Pzr IV will bounce anyway....

all these tanks you guys say you fear, even if they are skilled, are you guys not also MORE skilled to kill them?  I mean, a Pzr 3/4?  hes going to BOUNCE 75% of his shots even off your side.  A T1 HT? Whats to fear there? You shoot, you pen, he fires, he bounces....whats to worry about?

I couldn't agree more. A KV1 should dominate any tier 5 and under tank. And to bring a KV1 down it usually takes 2 or more tanks to kill it. Get a 100% crew and get ready to stomp all others.

Hmmm I am begining to see a pattern here. Would any of you KV1 drivers be willing to share some thoughts on how to engage and kill a KV1 in a pub match not platooned? Besides using another KV1. I am trying to give some hope to the masses out there that run in terror from a KV1.

Pray to your diety for divine intervention?  In T5 the thing is OP as XXXX.  ANYTHING but LOTS of artillery, and I mean LOTS of arty...or another KV1 who has a brain and knows where to shoot.  Anything less then that and you cannot kill it before it face XXXX you.  This game has turned into "Team with the most, and best played Russians wins"....THAT is T5 and 6.....its not about skills in T5 and T6, its about being skilled with KV series....they are OP as hell.  THe KV3, idk, it sucks, but the KV4, THAT is a GOD in its tier as well...niothing in T8 can reliably pen it frontally, it also has a great gun and great armor..sure it miht move slow, but everythingelse overcomes that weakness...KVs are OP now...straight up!

Oh, alternatively, wait till the KV is far from its base and back cap it...seemed to work on my KV ALOT...but dont fight it...it will XXXX you..

To kill a KV1 (or other heavy tank) you need to team up on him, and keep him too busy trying to focus on the two or three tanks that are flanking and hitting him over and over.

Sometimes that works in a pub match........sometimes.

For now, a Panzer IV will do the trick.  Just stay at range and snipe the HP off until dead.   The Panzer IV's view range and camo value allow it to stay out of site without the KV-1 seeing it, assuming there is no forward spotter.  The Stug III could do the same job as the Panzer IV with a little faster rate of fire but essentially the same gun.  That's just one way to do it, but that is the one I am most familiar with.

Edit:  The Panzer IV and the KV-1 are my two most played tanks, although most of the games showing under my KV-1 were with the original KV before the Soviet heavy line split.  I didn't like tangling with the old KV, although I didn't mind doing it, when they could mount the 107mm or 152mm guns, but now I don't really find them much of a challenge to kill after dealing with them when they were much more of a monster in tier 5.  Now they are still respectable, just not the monsters they once were.

I've never had occasion to drive a KV-1 (ran the derp KV before the split), but I've found them easy pickings in my Pz4 as long as I don't expose myself too much. Heck, I've once won a stand-off fight with my Pz4 against a KV-1 one time, trading shots until the KV-1 died. He was pissed, I'd tell you that.

In my KV with the miniderp I fear whatever can hit me from a distance: even if I get to see it, I cant return fire. I am also afraid of arty and mediums that come in couples.

You kill a KV-1 using the same tactics that one uses to kill any slow maneuvering heavy, you track it, flank it, destroy it.  And while doing this, do not trade shots with a Derp'd KV-1.

I run with the Derp cannon and tanks that usually give me grief are the Sherman and Churchill, as these tanks can absorbe a lot of abuse.

Current Panzer IV or Stug will rip up a KV-1 at anything over short range.  At longer range the IV can smash up a KV-1 and the KV wont even see it.  Luckily the L70 is leaving the building, and after that the PzIV becomes a slow PzIII/IV and the KV-1 the undisputed king of tier 5.  (as long as an S-35 ca doesn't spot you at long range :) )
