I have both tanks and they're about equal in my eyes.  IS-7 has better speed and front armor.  IS-4 has a better gun and all around armor.  IS-7 is more suited for offense and the IS-4 is more suited to defense but they're both flexible enough to do either role.  My biggest problem with the IS-7 is the gun.  It's not very accurate and the aim time is annoyingly long.  All the new high pen guns have passed the S-70 by.  The biggest problem with the IS-4 is the front armor is insufficient for tier 10.  What was good armor at tier 9 is bad armor at tier 10.

If you want one of these tanks for clan wars I have a bad feeling once 8.0 comes out neither will be in much demand.  Wargaming is reducing the armor slopes on both tanks so they wont benefit much from the renormalisation.  I understand why they did this(IS-7 would have been invincible frontally) but every other tier10 is getting an armor buff and the IS-7 and IS-4 aren't getting any other buffs as compensation.  Since the T110E5 is getting even stronger front armor I see little reason to use the IS-7 in clan wars or pubs.  The IS-4 will suffer the same fate.  The Maus is benefiting tremendously from the armor buff meaning it will be a much better choice for defense.

That's how they look in my garage. Fenced off and full of dust.

I had elite IS-4 before patch, now I have whole 8 battles done in new IS-4 ( just to check its armor first handed ) and not even thought about buying IS-7.
No tank locking in CW? T110 is enough.

buuuuuuuuurrrrrrnnnnnnn

I admit the IS-4 is a bit of a chore to play at the moment. I actually prefer playing my E-100 (and I do daily). The IS-4 crew gets dubbed in my Churchill. I'm about to finish the IS-8 grind and have about a dozen million credits burning a whole in my pocket so I might pick up the IS-7 anyway... if it plays like a slightly less mobile IS-8 with frontal armor then I'm already sold.

S70 feels quite a pain in the ass to use after getting used to the new American guns.

Now that I have played the IS-4 more.  I prefer it over the IS-7 mainly due to the gun.  It does a bit less damage but it reloads over a second faster with my crews and pens much better.  I have gun rammer, vents, and enhanced gun laying drive on both.  Also both have BIA at 100% for the whole crew and mentor for the commander at above 50% for the second skill.

They're both fine except for being a priority #1 arty target.  And in every match you play, you're guaranteed 4-5 tier 7 or 8 arty on both sides.  Not worth playing tier X atm imo.

they're both good, but I think the is-7 is better in more situations to be honest.

I've never had a problem killing an IS-7 1 on 1 in my IS-4. When i encounter 1 at full health and im alone i normally kill him easily. I just put shot after shot in his lower glacias and if he's dumb enough to angle that tank i'll just shoot at his flattened cheeks. IS-7 and IS-4 basically have the same gun, 1 just has a small% chance of doing 60 more damage. They basically have the same speed as well, IS-4 accelerates faster, but when the IS-7 eventually reaches top speed it does a whopping 7 KMH more(LOL). The main differences is aumor and HP. IS-7 has crap HP for its teir, and you cannot angle it's aumor, because if you do anyone who knows what they are doing will just shoot at your new flattened aumor. IS-4 you can angle that aumor all day and because you have 400 more HP your not AS scared of arty and TD's. Thats just my 2 cents. As far as mobility and agile goes, it doesnt matter. If you want mobile or agile heavies go T110E5 or AMX50B, even so if you want mobility there is a whole shitload of teir X medium tanks to grind for.

Has 8.2 changed how these tanks are viewed?  Especially with regard to which is more favored in CW and/or by top heavy drivers?
