Never really was interested in TDs.....only because when sitting in bushes my fps suffers and it's difficult to aim properly.

Valt, you really should redo the vid if the SU-100M1 and the SU-101 are going out without their stated top guns in the video now ( Which currently is removed from the current test server revisions ) Which namely D-54S I think and the M-62S, respectively.

Question: In the video, when the TDs hit a target tank a damage indicator flashes and damage value scrolls up, is this a mod or a new feature included with the 8.0 update?

It's the Over Target Markers built in the game client. I forgot which tick box / drop down menu is it but.

So either they rebuffed the SU-100M1/SU-101 like they should be, or there's a ton of incorrect information on this.

Good bye heavy slow moving with "inconsistent" armor tank destroyer. Tds with "heavy" frontal armor and slow speed have no comparison to these tanks, since practically all tanks in the game mostly have weak roof armor. Maybe a strong one would be the Maus or T95? If hull roof is a sorry excuse for a weak spot, than the French TDs have the most as their sides, roof and also rear absorb nearly full splashes of greater than 150mm arty guns.
