I've decided to gather a few key locations that, when used by a scout tank, can seriously change the outcome of the match. I don't have a spot for every map, and I don't feel like taking that kind of time anyway, but I will put together a few.
I just got done editing the maps, when I realized I totally screwed over the red/green colorbline tankers out there. I'm really sorry about that...
Disclaimer: most of these runs require a 50-2
KEY: An X denotes a passive scouting location, and a line with an arrow denotes a possible scouting route with varying levels of risk.

Well done. May have to make some adjustments for the new physics with 8.0. Plus 1 for the effort and willingness to share and help make others better.

Whew, I thought you were going to give away the good spots.
Glad to see it's just the common sense ones.

Uhm. Not to be rude, but which spots have you discovered in ~200 scout battles that I have not in ~2000?

I'm pretty sure you aren't missing out. I am just glad you decided not to put some of the less obvious ones on the maps for the "unwashed masses".

yeah plus 1 for making the effort but you gave away all my pasive spots
but i learnt a spot or two that i will try out thanks
i love pasive scouting then at the end go and clean up the arty ...i try to always say good pasive scouting to the scout so at least he knows 1 person on his team is giving him credit for all the sniping kills the rest of the team is getting ...i a great way to win a match for your team although sometimes i think the team has no idea you just won the game for them

Any half way decent player knows common and uncommon spots. I really don't think that jac is giving away valuable information. He is not jeopardizing "your" spots. It's not like players are going to target those areas more often because of this thread. Anyone who's good at the game and/or light tanks already knows for the most part where players passive spot and generally what route a scout will run.
Nice job on this jac keep it coming. If you want some help with other maps let me know.

This is very frustrating.
I'm on a scout binge, mostly because my ping has dropped recently, but 8.0 physics is surely fueling the addiction also. I'm having loads of fun in my (fairly new) t-50 and my well worn Luchs. It just clicks for me, but the Leopard is being a real drag. None of my tricks that work for the t-50 are working for the Leopard. People just tell me "go fast" and "dodge", but I just can't get the fully equipped Leopard to dance any better than a pz3/4. So, I've started trying passive scouting with it.
But I suck at passive scouting. Every time I try, I see 1 tank, or nothing, and then get barraged with incoming fire before any friendlies get off a shot. Obviously, I'm doing something wrong, but in my attempt to find the right scout bushes from the maps in this thread, I'm met with the frustration:
The passive-scout bush positions on your Malinovka map (assault) are even further forward than I've gone. I've been trying to park in that bush on the bottom of C6, but every time, I get splashed with arty before I spot anything.
Is a more conservative position going to make me more open to attack somehow?
I sometimes have binocs and/or camo. It depends on the tank, but it seems to make little difference for me. Shouldn't a scout be able to spot approaching mediums first without those aids anyway?
I don't fire when attempting to passive scout.
I make it to the bush and have a few moments of peace before the violence ensues.
It's not just this map. I have never, ever been passed-by while hiding in a bush. I am always spotted before anybody fires a shot on my lit target.
Why am I always spotted first? What am I doing wrong?

If I had to guess you:
1) weren't getting there fast enough, so an enemy was spotting you while you were driving into the bush. If you didn't move to your spot the second the game started this is likely. If you waited 5 or 10 seconds to go, you are killing yourself.
2) were in the bush and not entirely behind the bush so part of your tank stuck out so the bush did nothing.
3) were at a bad angle so someone can see your tank's ass sticking out of the side of the bush. This happens if you don;t know where the enemy will be coming from and a flanking tank spots you from a different angle. Or you just aren't paying attention.
4) fired your gun and made the bush useless. Never ever fire your gun when passive spotting. If you are shooting you aren't passive
When I watch people passive scout and fail, it's almost one of those things that gets them killed.

That's a fine piece of work. I'm not a scout (my nerves would be shot) but a lot of your passive locations are very common-sensical and are worth avoiding or worth setting up ambushes in. Being a TD driver, I have come to hate T-50(-2)'s with a passion...no offense...and would love to blow you all up (and then have a beer with you and tell tales of epic battles).
Good job. +1

Thank you jacg123.
I tried out your advise on Five Oaks with my M5.
Luckily MM favored me this time and I was 6th from the top with mostly lower tiers vehicles. I followed your route from the green side and ended up running wild in their rear unexpectedly attaining six kills(2 arty) and three medals- REAPER, TOP GUN and SCOUT, and only the loss of two teammates.
I realize that a bad opponent figured into the slaughter, but without you tips I would have cautiously held back more and achieved a whole lot less. Ironically my passive scouting turned into active scouting as the situation changed.
I will continue to use your advice with my scouts to help my team win.
Thanks again.

When passive scouting you need 6th sense. It tells you when you've been spotted. So you know when to stay and when to just bail. 6th sense makes life much easier for a passive scout. Takes the guess work out of it.
When passive scouting take 6th sense on commander as the first perk and cammo on the rest of the crew (first perk). Also use a cammo net and binocs.

OP: These are some good ol' tried & true routes. There are some great spots on every map, especially since 8.0, that offer excellent cover for passive scouting in Dash2. That said, I take each map along with the makeup of the red team's roster (speed & vision mostly) to determine how far & for how long I will troll.

Remember, OP stated he uses these routes in his T-50-2. Nothing has the acceleration & top speed of Dash2, therefore it can get to & setup in spots that will only get other LTs blown up. You will have to tinker with these routes with each tank, as every LT moves and handles soooo differently.
Are you suggesting that I should choose a bush nearer to home base? Because it seems that any further back than C8 and I'm not much further forward than the Heavies behind the church.
I'll try being even more conservative today though and see.
