I stopped working on this mod, no time. Here are some alternatives:

Максимальное увеличение дальности видимости (Maximizing Visibility?)

Three different versions:

delete_fog - removes fog from within map boundary

max_farplane_LODTex - Changes some level of distance values so textures are detailed no matter the distance

max_farplane_LODTex_delete_fog - Changes some level of distance values so textures are detailed no matter the distance; also removes fog from within the map boundary

Mav's Ultra Fog Remover

Spoiler

Removes all fog from the map entirely

Wow, that really helped a lot. This doubled my FPS in *ANY* situation. Basically, after 8.0 everything turned really bad, with max fps around 20, low 7 or 8. I have an i5 laptop with an nvidia 305M. Now, it goes down to 15 when busy, with a max of 40 @idle sky. Basically I'm back to 7.5 values. I have a nicer view, too.

Now I need something to turn off the smoke and the vegetation, because those really hurt me too. As soon as I see smoke, I drop 5 to 10 fps.

Thanks for the fix!

EDIT: Sorry, I wasn't completely fair, I also lowered my resolution once I noticed it worked. The fix gave me around a 25% boost, I think. Also, I have gfx on standard, NOT on Improved.

Works a charm on standard.

Glad it's helping a few of you with the FPS, I'm mainly interested in if it fixes the zoom in problem though. Doesn't seem like there is a fix that works for everyone, guess we need to wait for WG to fix that.

I didn't have any fps problems but this makes the game so much clearer.

Plus being able to see pretty much all the way to the other side of most maps is very nice.

Really ups the feeling of rolling around in huge tanks instead of toy tanks in a fogged out box.

Yes, it does help with the zoom. Sometimes my zoom was ultra-laggy, with drops to just 3, 4 frames. It's much better now at ~15 to 20. In other words, the game is playable again!

Huh.  I sometimes get little stutters in sniper with my comp.

I'll give it a shot and see if it helps tonight.

I was seriously considering to stop playing until the fps-drop, which occured since 8.0, would be fixed. Well, now I stop considering.....this sollution works perfect for me.

Did my fps drop from about 40/50 to below 10 when I switched to the snipermmode (or back), now surprisingly my fps goes up when I switch to the snipermode.  Can't understand why, but hé. I'm not complaining ;).

My average fps in normal mode is now 30-40, so it seems a bit lower than without this fix, but 30-40 is still very good playable (in 7.5 my fps was about 20-25). As i said, when I switch to the snipermode now (with this fix), my fps goes up to 57-63.

Yes! Yes! Yes! I'm very happy with this (workaround)fix :Smile_great:

Absolutely fabulous!  I was running 45-55fps with 2-5 fps in sniper mode in my arty.  Now runs 50-65 fps with 25-85 fps in sniper mode, zooming and unzooming as an arty usually does.

Great find, great workaround!!!!!!   :Smile_veryhappy:  :Smile_glasses:  :Smile_Default:

Glad it helps! Make sure you try the latest version though, as there have been a few improvements since the first version for 0.8.0.
  • Changed drawing textures on all maps to a single. (Mod 0.8.1 on the map: Karelia)
  • The visibility range increased to 2500 at the highest setting.
  • Minor edits

Do you know if this is affected by WoT cracking down on mods?

Awsome, I have seen this mod around awhile and now wish I tried it much sooner.  CONFIRMED + 4-10 FPS on my machine, and sniper mode is now working properly, can see map and tanks much clearer.

FUNNY HOW IT TAKES MODDERS TO IMPROVE THE GAME THAT THE RUSSAINS ARE GETTING PAID MILLIONS TO DO!  I SAY RUSSIAN FAIL!

I use this small patch from Leatrix. Reduced Lag significantly and nowdays I don't see lag at all. But Internet game is as fast as the slowest link. Internet provider, internet speed, cable, T1, T3, video card, RAM, all will affect performance.

can anyone help explain how and where to extract the rar file to?  What is the "spaces" in the above quote? Do i just drop it in the 8.3 folder?  please and thank you!

Yes mate i take it your not to good with PC file structures so i will explain as if your a complete alien to it all so forgive me if it sounds a little patronizing

Before we do anything download and exract the file to a location you want IE desktop or downloads this file is called 0.8.2 you need to open this and you will find a folder called "Spaces" you can right click and copy the "Spaces" folder this is the only part of the download you will need to copy

(You may need winrar or 7zip to open this if you dont allready have a file extraction/compression tool installed both can be found here http://ninite.com/  )

1 Click start and goto "My Computer"

2 Now select the "C" drive and double click that

3 Now look down until you see a folder called "Games" double click to open

4 You should see in the Games folder a folder named World_of_Tanks open this folder

5 You will now see a folder in here called "Res_Mods" open this you will find a folder in there called 0.8.3

6 Open the 0.8.3 folder and right click and paste your extracted file in there ("Spaces")

Now restart your game and you should have the mod installed i have just reinstalled it myself and it does indeed work with 8.3

Now if this is to much or you dont understand or you would rather someone else do this for you please PM me with some skype details so i can talk you through what to do next BTW i,am located in the UK so please consider my timezone i will be around until midnight GMT most days
