I started out with the basic M2 Medium.  That 37mm gun is absolute rubbish!  Grinding up exp in this tank, with that gun is just painfully slow, and without premium it would be almost as bad (imho) as driving a stock KV....

HOWEVER - once you get the 75mm Howitzer M3 - LOOK OUT!  That gun is a MONSTER for that teir of tank, and those lower level battles.  I was wondering how anyone could think 5600 exp for the top line radio was appropriate, and now I see why.


In short - if you have the M2 and your having trouble, keep your spirits up, because that 75 is going to make ALL the difference!

So its the US equivalent of the T28 then, it starts off as the worst tank in your garage and then one day it grows up

Great tank to defend your base against those pesky scouts that come for your artillery. I hated it but once I got the 75mm howy loved it.

I lol at the M2's.
Had a 6vs1 battle with my T-34.
I got tracked in a bunch of M2's.
and they were all pounding my tanks but not able to penetrate, and i just 2 shotted all em M8's with my zis-4 wich has damage of 85. a very low damage gun.

yes im aware they are low tier tanks, i just find it funny how even when i had half of team on a single tank they failed to kill it.

well it could be because T-34 (soviet) is a T5 tank and the M2 is well..a tier 3. its like a leopard taking on a KV-3..only the KV-3 would likely 1 shot the leo's. I think pzrIII ausf A or T46 would have a simular isseu with a T-34.

I LOL at your arrogant boasting in the many post's that you have most be compensating for a lack of something  

But really your bragging about killing tier 3 tanks in a tier 5 whats the point

i dont, ive killed many low level tanks, its just extra fun killing american tanks, due to high profile.

Yet i can safely say my luch outclasses the M2 in all ways and their the same tiers. But i dont like boasting with my luch, i like boasting when my tank is taking massive barrages of fire and i still manage to kill them and dont survive!

Even with the howitzer the M2 Medium remains utter rubbish - wildly inaccurate weapon at any range, and when it does connect the single hit damage isn't enough to make up for the low rate of fire. Badly outclassed by everything in the tier.

add a rammer onto the M2 + 75mm combo & you have a little beast that will make you money hand over fist every day of the week, you'll cover the 200k cost of the rammer in under 30 games easy with the low repair cost. Just make sure you spread the damage about.

& once at elite - it generates some serious exp you can convert too.

Thinking I'm gonna keep mine for some fun in between the grind up on my other tanks, just my 2 penneth worth

I had the M2 equipped with the 75mm howitzer, it was really fun to oneshot BT-7s on the move (i had 4 kills with oneshots in one game, out of 6 total kills)
A well fired shot from it can basically oneshot a targed, and its not really slow....so i thing its a great tank!
+6 machineguns overkillftw (and also 6 crewmembers)

Yes, this tank with the 75mm is hell of alot of fun to play.  I was thinking of even buying another just to keep it in the garage for fun.

It is fun to throw those 75mm slugs at low tier machines, if you hit.

Overall however it is not a good machine at all, the 75mm makes it bearable just because it is so silly.

You have to play it like the name of the gun implies though, it is short range direct line artillery or a high profile tank destroyer (the latter being a contradiction in terms).

Not sure how the open top is modelled in damage wise, but if it is it would mean you are much more susceptible to HE damage.

I actually think the M2 is a decent tank for it's tier.  Certainly not the best, but hardly the worst.

The gun you begin with isn't stellar by any means, but it's pretty accurate.  The M2 has a pretty high profile and that makes it great for sniping; I suggest forgetting that it's classified as a medium tank and instead defend the base or find somewhere to hide.  I recommend getting the turret first as it adds a lot of extra HP to your tank.

Once you get the howitzer, it takes a few moments to get use to, but it's a beast of a gun.  You have to play it the same way as before; you can't really rush with it because it's too inaccurate and while moving it only makes it worse.  The slow reload makes it a bit painful to dogfight with, so ideally you want some range-- especially if you can set up in bushes/defense point where the enemy will be traveling in your direction.  It packs enough punch to one-shot and two-shot many tanks you'll be fighting.

It's excellent on the defense, use it that way.

Well thats good to know right know im using the 37mm M-6 and my god for a T3 tanks its so badly undergunned considering the games it can be matched in2, im working on getting the 75mm so its good to hear its worth it to a degree.

No T3 tank is good its  a tier u want out of ASAP.

I like the various tanks/tiers.  Sometimes you just want to get in a scrum and rough each other up, other times, snipe, and other times defend - each teir brings a little something to the game, and I try to appreciate them for themselves.

Now, is the M2 a "great" tank?  Nope - but for its teir (and with the 75mm of course) I believe its quite possibly one of the most fun tanks in the game!    


Although, having been on the receiving end of one of those 75 rounds in my M3 stuart - THAT isn't quite as much fun!

Well i agree with you the M2 being classed as a Med tank and mounting a 75mm How at such a low level that is mainly light tank games makes the M2 a wildcard but over all (and this is just me) T3 is such a void of a tier its just luck of the draw what sort of battle u get.

Except T28 gets access to two great guns that can easily damage tanks 2-3 tiers above you so you get insane exp and cash from it.

In M3 with howitzer you can kill some T1-4 tanks and scratch some paint on heavier stuff which is great if you find game with low tier stuff but if they throw you into high tier battle it's still free frag.

Imho it's second worst tier 3 tank in game with only 38(t) being worse.
