M2 Medium Tank

Except T28 gets access to two great guns that can easily damage tanks 2-3 tiers above you so you get insane exp and cash from it.

In M3 with howitzer you can kill some T1-4 tanks and scratch some paint on heavier stuff which is great if you find game with low tier stuff but if they throw you into high tier battle it's still free frag.

Imho it's second worst tier 3 tank in game with only 38(t) being worse.

What the hell? It's way way way better than the Ausf III A.

Like, literally twice as good.

38(t) is horrible though.

Also, someone said HE never bounces. This is wrong. I get bounces all the time with HE shells. You get many fewer bounces, but it can still happen.

bah good my ***
This tank is the worst thing Ive ever used. I thought it was ok with the 37 and i thought it was awesome with the 75. So I think that 700M view distance would be epic and I buy a radio. Now it is often faced with Stugs and KV-3s and one shot deaths. The problem is if I take off the radio I end up facing Stugs and Kv's with an even worse radio. Why? No idea. The radio downgrade just wont downgrade me in high tier battles. This tank is often the biggest 10 minute waste of time I spend among all my tanks.

The matchmaker doesn't account for modules installed/researched.

Now there's a lot more tanks on higher tiers so you get dragged to their battles. This is a problem with all tier 3 and 4 tanks especially.

Ive fought against the M2, and well, it's crap without the gun upgrade, as it's too big, low armor, and only average speed. With the gun, it can severely damage people.

They should have allowed the M2A1 ingame, which had better armor, even 51mm in the turret.
------------------------------------------
WARNING RANT ALERT
Im just wondering if they thought of "balance" when the make these tanks. Sure, they are heavily based on the real vehicles, and other times not so much, like the T34 is only given the minimum level of armor ingame.

I dont know why they have the Panzer 3 A and it's later models so massively different in armor(hey why not use the mid models, that had 30-40mm armor?).

Really, why are all the Tier 3 vehicles so inbalanced?
------------------------------------------
To Sum it up, grind through this crappy tank as soon as possible, get the turret and 75mm gun upgrades as soon as possible, then drop it like a bad habit.

Wow, I'm not getting the hate this tanks is getting.  Fully upgraded, it's a friggin' BEAST.  And seems to get treated better by matchmaker than other Tier 3s I've played.

Stock, it's awful.  I had some major buyer's remorse the first few battles.

But throw on the 75mm and upgrade the engine, and suddenly everone around you just starts exploding violently :Smile-playing:

It's quickly become my second favorite low-tier tank in the game (behind PzII).  The only reason I sold mine was I needed the room to move on to the Lee. As soon as I can spare a slot for it again, I'm buying it back and pulling her crew out from my barracks.  It's just a hoot to play.

i love it.It is very awsome i got 6 kills & coins:11,843 & xp:858 my best score ever.it stinks at first but once you get the 75m  :Smile_great:  it blows them away. The light tanks one shot one kill almost always.

I hated the M2, loved the T2 but hated the M2.  I was simply trying to get out of that 'thing' as quickly as possible and didnt tech to the 75mm.  The Lee was only barely marginally better then the M2 and so I left one headache for another headache.  Atleast when I finally got to the Sherman that headache was relieved slightly.  M2 wouldnt be so bad if it didnt get tossed into fights against Obj. WTF's and Insta Slaughter 3's and 4's.  Compared to the T2 the M2 was slower which is one big hit on it straight away, a slow scout...it is bigger or as big as a house so it's not like it is hiding or sneaking anywhere.  It's gun can no longer even peel the paint off the opposition so all in all I almost sold it and went back to the T2 but saw the light in distance and was glad when I got mah Shermans +D

Only fought about a dozen battles in the M2 at this point.  The only positive attribute in this tank is the howiter once you get it.  That gun seems to snipe fairly well on non-moving targets and up close it can one shot equal or lower tier tanks.  I find the M2 to be lacking in every other category.  I play it more like a TD than a tank.

There was period of time in open beta where HE shells never bounced. It was so ridiculous that for a long time I never even bothered loading AP ammo in any of my guns. AP ammo bounced all the time and HE never, ever, did. That changed towards the end of open beta. I didn't see anything in the patch notes, but at some point in late March I started hearing "That one bounced!" and "Just dinged him!" when shooting HE. Fortunately, AP also seemed to improve a bit around that time as compensation.

Yep. This is far and away the biggest problem with tier 3 and tier 4 tanks. It's marginally better for medium tanks, as they usually only see enemies two or three tiers higher. But for light tanks, it's utterly horrendous. It's not uncommon to be in an A-20 or a Leopard and see tier 9 enemies like IS-4s. It wouldn't be so bad if light tanks were decent scouts. But they're not; medium tanks almost always can do a better job of scouting, even if they are marginally slower and marginally less stealthy.

My experience with the M2 has been positive, so far. But then again, I make it a habit to research all the key module upgrades before even buying most low-tier tanks. So I rarely suffer through "Stock Shock" (the pain one feels when driving a brand new stock tank). Some tanks are simply unbearable with stock components (Leopard, Luchs, M2, KV, for starters). Of course, others are unbearable even when fully upgraded (PzKpfw II). And others aren't "unbearable," just ineffective (BT-7, PzKpfw 35(t), PzKpfw 38(t)).

I actually don't mind the 37mm M6.

This beasty tank has no matchmaking issues whatsoever! I'm constantly at the top of the list and pwn all the time! BTW, the stock gun may be bad as a whole but it is still pretty awesome for its tier.

I love my M2 with 100% crew & rammer. Been thinking of adding the ventialtion to it but don't know if it helps on the M2 even though it's in the list of upgrades.

One thing not mentioned here about the M2 that helps make it a fun tank is the excellent gun depression. Can hull down very nicely with it.

M2 Med lack Pz3A's uber acceleration and cross country performance; hell, it is comparable to Leopard as scout.
