Anyway, I get the feeling that someone involved in the production was
playing WoT.

You'd be correct, actually, as I have stated before the company that is producing this actually has an apparently sponsored clan in the game.

Well, the anime looked like it would play out to be interesting. Then again, i did enjoy Upotte! so heh, i just tend to enjoy all sorts of anime. I figured it was based off of WoT, when i saw how it landed up. Panzer training XDD pretty cool stuff. =D

Other people watch it XDD the things you find out when you go on community boards of games i swear.

This show is hilarious, though it all being on a supercarrier was kind of a WTF

I just watched and it's deffinitely an anime for tank fans, sort of like MMORPG fans should all watch .hack//Sign before they die. Did you guys notice that the school's symbol is an iron cross that's split at the bottom? Yeah, someone likes Germany/ German tanks in that production staff. I think this anime's a keeper.

Well yeah, they've loved big ships ever since WW2. The anime Space Battleship Yamato being the most famous "big ship" anime. Yamato was also the flagship of the UN forces in the Strike Witches anime. So yeah, the Japanese love to go big or go home.

The Japanese seem to have a sort of fascination with the Panzer IV.  The manga Narue no Sekai (available at one time translated as World of Narue) has an anime series in it with Strike Witch-like tank girls.  The heroine is the Panzer IV.  Her best mate is Shaman, though it should have been Sherman.  Which is itself a bit strange.
