lol you think there would only be enough 1960-present tanks to fill 3-4 tiers? Seriously?

Well lets see for the US. Depending on what the current WoT uses for light tanks, you MIGHT get the sheridan and i think there is an export american light tank that is for sale but i can't find the damn thing right now. i think it has a smoothbore 90mm cannon, again i'd have to dig for it.

Edit: Found it, it's the Stingray, and it mounts a 105 and the only user of this tank is Thailand.  But yeah, maybe a few tanks that could do something with. yeah again real fun.

But seriously as MBTs what would we have for the US?  M60 and it's variants which could be combined into 1 tank, than you have the M1 ahbrams and it's variants. Well hell that's two tiers right?

Russia has a few, german has a couple, brits got a few. N Korea and China are knock offs of the russians, france has their own MBT, so you might see 2-3 unless you used variants religiously, then it's pretty much the same model running around with slightly different stats.

Boy, real fun game right?

here's a list I came up with for the main american line.

Tier 1: M41 Walker Bulldog - http://en.wikipedia...._Walker_Bulldog
Tier 2: T92 Light Tank - http://en.wikipedia..../T92_Light_Tank (experimental design to replace the M41)
Tier 3 - M551 Sheridan - http://en.wikipedia....i/M551_Sheridan (*)
Tier 4 - M8 AGS - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M8-AGS (experimental design to replace the Sheridan) (**)
Tier 5 - Stingray "Economy MBT" - http://en.wikipedia....gray_light_tank (***)
Tier 6 - M60A1 - http://en.wikipedia....nitial_versions (covers the initial versions of the M60 up to the M60A1)
Tier 7 - M60A3 - http://en.wikipedia....nitial_versions (covers the A2 to A3 versions)
Tier 8 - MBT-70 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MBT-70 (the US/German MBT design that came before the Abrams and Leo2)
Tier 9 - M1A1 Abrams - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1_Abrams (first versions up to the M1A1)
Tier 10 - M1A2 Abrams -  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1_Abrams (from the M1A2 to the latest SEP TUSK models)
(*) - the sheridan seems like a good spot to split into the other lines, since it had AT missiles, and it was a light support tank, so it could split into the TD/IFV/AT Missile lines
(**) - The M8 AGS doesn't fit chronologically before the M60, but it kinda needs to go there
(***) - Again, the Stingray doesn't quite fit chronologically before the MBT-70, but that's a good spot for it in the tree.

it's a nice progression from light tanks and light MBT's, to "medium" MBT's, like the Stingray, to the heavy MBT's like the M60 and abrams.

first 3 tiers, you can probably knock them off, M41 walker bulldog is already slated to be a tier 6 American LT, T92 is slated to become tier 7, and possibly the sheridan[minus the missiels] at tier 8, but if not you already lost 2 to the current WoT.

but looking at the rest, all the M60 and variants and the M1 and variants, LOOK LIKE THE SAME DAMN TANK CAUSE THEY ARE THE SAME DAMN TANK.  Sorry i really don't want to be driving the same tank over and over again.

Bad enough with some of the chinese tanks and french tanks, i really don't want to be driving a variant of a tank, just at another tier.

I mean we see that in game, it just gets worse the farther you go up the tank history.

And to boot, in the current WoT, there are MANY upon MANY tanks to drive around. In modern day, there are simply not enough to go around like at the dawn through the golden age of tanking at WWII.

Sorry buddy, I still think this goes under the header of BAD IDEAS.

Oh and people complain about arty now?

Wait till they see MLRS?  They'll go into shock and literally die.

but in current WoT we have the same basic tank just variants over and over again like the BT-2 and BT-7, T-34 and T-34-85, M4 sherman, EZ8 and Jumbo and M4A2E2... WZ-131 and WZ-132, I can keep going with some of the KV series but I dont see much point its quite obvious there is alot of the same tank just different variants and further overhauled models in current WoT but its suddenly a issue to use variants in a suggestion for WoT2.0? you serious?

I knew you were going to say that. But why does that matter? Who says that the M41 can't be in both games?? What, you'd complain about repeat tanks? They would be the same tank, but in completely different games, fighting completely different enemies.

Paria already answered this. There are already TONS of similar tanks in WoT. the T29, T34, and T30, are all the same, just different guns. There are 4 shermans in the game. There's the T-54 and T-62. The KV-1, KV-1S, KV-13, and KV-2. Centurion and Cent. 7/1. Amx 13 75, 13 90. AMX 50 100, 120, and 50B.
It would be no different with modern tanks. An early Abrams would be just as different from a late Abrams as some of these tanks are. It's not any worse with post-WWII tanks.

just because you are ignorant of modern tanks, that doesn't mean they don't exist.

I'm not ignorant of modern tanks.  My point is this. A lot of the fun is the AMAZING amount of tanks that are available int his time period to be driven.  The farther you go up the line, the less there is to be driven.

If you are expecting the same game also, the mechanics will change WILDLY.  Plus people scream and whine about arty now? I shudder to think about garbad or some other arty hater in Modern tanks.  Where arty could one shot a team and do it in half to a quarter of the time with something like MLRS.

Sorry, again i am just not seeing the feasibility when compared to something like WoT now.

Cause honestly, you'd have multiple lines like the chinese we have now and that's about it.  Not really any other flushing out.
