What gives.

The A1 shoots at 18.99 rpm and has same pen and dmg as M1A2.

The difference I saw was the M1A2 shoots at 19.11 a whole .12 rpm faster....lame.

The only other difference I saw was the accuracy which is a mere .37 vs .34.

My opinion, definitley not worth 5800 exp unless you want to elite it which personally is pointless unless you just like collecting tanks and unlocking everything.

any plans to boost the gun at all?

Incorrect, the M1A1 on the Sherman M4 as well as the M4A3E8 both fire at 16.22RPM. The M1A2 fires at 18.75 on the M4A3E8, making it 2.53 RPM faster.

And no less a waste of 5,800 exp.

Gun needs a buff. Slow down the reload, around 12 RPM, up the damage to 180. Call it a day.

+3 accuracy is a big improvement, not a 'mere'. Hated the M1A1 because of accuracy, M1A2 it's has a pretty nice accuracy

Ya in best case scenario. I took the higher and you took the lower. either way it doesnt really matter because many people dont fire continuously for a minute. They may fire 1 or 2 rounds and move on or reposition. You are merely saving yourself a single second or two and in most cases if you are relying on that 1 second, you are already dead

The ROF is specific to the tank it's in.

The same gun is in many tanks and not all of them fire it at the same speed.

You need to check the details once you have it mounted to see the maximum ROF in your tank.

Also bear in mind most people are never firing at that rate.

To get it you need 100% crew and any ventilation, rammer and ration options available.

You took the higher M1A1 value and the lower M1A2 value, not exactly a fair comparison. And for the record, the numbers I posted are in fact the true firing rates on the Sherman M4A3E8, not the "best case scenario" as you put it.

I've been in situations where I've been hull down/good camo and fired continuously for close to 3 minutes, exhausting most of my ammunition supply. The increased RoF shaves off half a second between shells, that's pretty substantial. And given that the M4A3E8 can equip a gun stabilizer, nothing says you can't fire effectively on the move.

i got 6 kills with the M1A2 gun in one match i think it's pretty decent but i dislike how the M4 Sherman which is Tier 4 is able to almost kill me. but it's a sherwin so yeah  :Smile_honoring:

Sherman is tier 5... if it has the 105mm and hits you first in a good spot bye bye!

I have the M4 and M4A3E8 and enjoying both, that said, the M4 Sherman is better but only because of the 105mm imho.

76mm M1A2 is good but bounces on alot of tanks lol

M1A2 76mm is completely worth the experience to get it. Little increase in RoF, but, way more important, a nice increase in accuracy ; *very* noticable. The guns starts to be useful in combat situation. M1A1 is such a pain.

Unfortunately it is still too low in penetration and damages.

As an earlier player said, lowering RoF for more damages would be a good way to make it balanced.

In current state, it is underpowered for a Tier VI gun IMHO.

I agree with this assessment.  Given how the current matchmaking system will drag the E8 into battles  with Tier 7 & 8 heavies more often than not, the 76mm M1A2 is a gun that is showing up a tier or two too late.  The E8 has thin armor and a weak gun so the only real roles for it to fill are a scout killer or a sniper.  The 76 M1A2 is very accurate but lacks the penetration necessary for these encounters.
