As the title suggests, I'm looking for any way to turn off the game chat feature.

Lately, I find that all its used for, is to bitch and complain about someone's lack of ability, or the map sucks, or to start bemoaning their team, or insult any or all players on both teams, or complain about Wargaming and the latest update, or whining about their fave tank being neutered,....etc,...

Is there any way, for a player to turn off the chat during the battle?
Not permanently,..but maybe just if the chat starts goin south, just a switch to mute it?

Any ideas out there?

there are users out there who use the chat to try and help their team win (meeee)

so please just use the ignore function when you run across annoying people

Or you could just ignore it?

In nearly all of my games as a scout, I keep a steady stream (if I'm lighting targets up) of tanks and information related to the Red Team. Heavies and TD's are a little bit different, as I'm generally too involved in actual combat to type anything.

If you feel like limiting yourself that way though, go ahead. I'm sure there are other talkative players out there...

Don't let a game hurt your feelings.

it's not about getting feelings hurt, it's distracting.  you are much much better off without the chat.  pay attention to the mini-map instead and you'll see everything you need to know.

It's not the game, it's some of the people in it, and what those people do don't hurt my feelings, it's just needlessly annoying, even when what they say isn't directed to me.  More often than not, the chat is more of a distraction than anything else.

I wish WoT would give players the option to disable chat.  Most of the chat is unnecessary noise.  Players are insulting each other.  One person thought it was ok to tell me that he or she can play my vehicle better than me. I tried to install the mod to disable chat but it did not work.  I think it is because some of them on that curse website are not updated to 8.2    One of their other mods, Jimbos crosshair, installed ok.

If anyone knows a disable chat mod that works on 8.2, please let me know here.  But it would be great if it can be disabled in the settings.

If you guys are that desperate to disable chat, just go get yourselves banned in General Chat. You'll get your wish. You won't like it though.

Why do you wanna stop chat? Just because some words on a pixel screen offend you? Grow up. Chat is imperative to the whole point of the game: Communication and tactical strategy. Without chat you won't know what's going on. Minimap only tells you so much. It takes a player to tell you that their gun is damaged, or their loader is hurt, or that they need help because hidden snipers are tearing them apart.

If anything, WG should ban chat removing mods.

Don't turn off chat you terrible baddies. Chat is needed so you can tell what is going on, who needs help, or which tank everyone is focus firing.

Are you the same people who turn off the minimap as well? You are the reason this game is so frustrating.

What if I need this feature to save the other 29 players from myself? Heaven forbid I start learning self-control <_<

You don’t need chat, if you can read a mini map and follow the basics in tank battle, chat is for the little ones who have self esteem issues that have to insult, humiliate and degrade others to make them feel important, and their Mothers should wash their mouths out with soap for some of the things they say.

I love this game when the little ones are at school or in bed…and I hate this game when the little squirts are in the same battle, can be very frustrating, by the way they should be outside playing like I did when I was a kid.

If you find this statement offensive, then you match the profile.

I've been using prehistoric's mod for months, and my wr shot up to 61% in the time I used it, my reflexes have improved, and my cat  no longer spontaneously combusts. I highly recommend it! I just wish we could just turn off all/team chat, and leave platoon chat,
