I realise this comes as a shock to some people in World of Tanks, but there are these dudes who wear green brown on their faces, and they carry these, like, really, really small cannons that go 'pop' instead of 'boom'. They're a bit like coaxes, but even smaller. Anyway, apparently someone has decided that they're important enough to have a museum.

Well some of us that where trained there at Fort Benning have an identifier called 11H(hotel).  Infantry heavy anti-armor we where trained to turn those steel boxs you so found of riding around into piles of scrap iron.  Don't know if I will be able to make it down from Michigan but will try.

I will try to make it, I work BCT on sand hill. So my scheldule can be fluidic.
@ The_Chieftain in real life if there are no infantry to work with the armor, then our 11 series guys WILL kill the tanks by themselves with or without armor support.

Well they do have a Sherman in the WWII Company Street exhibit. I haven't been to Columbus area in a while and I will do what I can to try and shake out myself +1.

My buddy and I are active players, he knows where and old tank yard is on Benning if you guys want to go check that out. he told me its likewalking around a spawn point at the beging of a match. Interested?

You bet I am!  As a grunt running around the pinny woods of Bennings School for Boys I would have loved to be a tanker. Been looking forward to seeing the museum since they redid it. Only a 90 min drive from Leesburg so Ilook forward to stoping this time (drive a football bus there every other year as a coach)!

Anyone intrested in going to the Confederate naval museum...World of Warships is comming!!!!!

The tank yard, which is a refurbishing shop, is on Sand Hill, about 10min away from the museum (actually make a right after the checkpoint and then its on your right). It has some of the last surviving T-28s, t-30s, a couple tigers, a few M-3 Lee's, a bunch of M-60s, a T-29 and so on....even some american arty.  Can't miss it.  They give tours if you ask nicely.  When I was in there once, apparently there are some real nice examples inside their building

Chieftain, do you think you can roganize a tour of some of the ex-Ft Knox collection at Ft Benning?  As it will probably take 5-10 years for them to build the museum, this might be my best shot at seeing them.  If so, I will certainly make the trip.  Otherwise, it will be somewhat difficult to justify the drive.

Honestly, if it were a weekday, we may have a shot, but on a Sunday, I don't see it happening right now given that the three staff work mon/fri.. The collection is sitting in a motor pool.

I have pics from SOME of the tanks at Benning from last Dec. Ignore the last pic in the Library. It's my future son-in-laws Ranger graduation same day. Not sure how it ended up in there.

Please note the King Tiger and Panther II . It's the only example of a Panther II ever made. I matched the bow # on it to a photo from AchtungPanzer.

Anyways, it should be enough to whet some appetites. BTW, there is no access to the vehicles. We had access to the motorpool, but as you can see pics, the tracks themselves are inside chain link enclosures.
