Now, after finishing the somewhat annoying to play Crusader, you'll find yourself at the Cromwell. On paper, it's a good tank. I'll be honest, I wasn't too impressed with it at first, but then I learned how to play it. Hello Super T-50. If you're out for a tank that is never short of a ton of fun, here's your toy.

Stock Grind

It's actually not that bad, surprisingly. It gets a gun that is doable for the tanks it will see, and the mobility isn't too bad stock either.

Mobility/Agility

Fully upgraded, this little devil feels like a demon spawn of an Easy 8 and a T-50. What a combo. If a scout tries to run past you, (s)he's in for some hell. You'll turn around and run them down like no tomorrow. Now, mind you this mobility tends to get you in trouble as much as it'll get you out of trouble. So know your limit.

Gun

Again, very nice. The 75mm Vickers HV is nothing short of a little bastard when it's firing upon you. It quickly picks away at any tank it will ever see. Trust me, this thing brings some hateful comments. Team the good penetration, RoF, and decent accuracy with the mobility, and god damn the enemy better prepare for some rough times if they forget about you.

Armour

I'm not going to sugar coat this for anyone. There is none.

Other Stuff

Well, it's got a decent HP pool, there's a good thing. It's also got pretty tasty gun depression, you'll be able to play the hill games just as much as those pesky 'Merican Shermans. Even without armour, this tank isn't prone to module damage, surprisingly, so another plus to the old Brit. It's hull and turret traverse are both extremely fast, so another plus to ye ol Britty. It's hard to find a downside to anything on this tank, but there is the On-The-Move accuracy. It's terrible.

My Thoughts

I never played this tank on the test server, so I dove head first into this tank. Expecting the same result as every other tank I dove head first into, I was certainly shocked. This tank is simply amazing to play. Great mobility, good gun, and good soft stats make this certainly one of few selected tanks to gain a permanent spot in my garage. I crown this old Brit king of tier six mediums, if not tanks. It's just superior to every tier six when played properly I find. I got through this tank in three short days, so it definitely isn't a pain to play at all.

To sum it up,

"Super T50" Pretty much sums it up to be honest. Kept running into them yesterday in tank companies and God they are fking bugs that bite and bite in the most annoying way.

Since you actually drove the tank, would you consider it leaning towards a balanced tank? Or is it OP? The question isn't stemming from anything, just a question.

In my personal opinion, I find it to be overpowered, but then I think back to the M4A3E8. Gun wise, they're essentially the same, but the E8 gains where the Cromwell fails. There's probably a mobility nerf coming down the pipes, but oh well.

Yep, played my first 3. I can definitely say even with 80% below crew, the Cromwell moves far too agile and will likely have some nerf in that respect.

Sounds like a priority nerfing target.  Watch it gets nerfed the day after I get it...

I just left the Cromwel for the Comet and I gotta say...I sucked at it...sucked sucked sucked...I think I had a sub 30% WR with the tank...but it was one of the funnest tanks Ive ever driven.

*edit*  Not doing so hot on The Comet either  :)

I found that the Cromwell got ammo rack damage often enough that I ended up picking up a Wet Ammo Rack (running rammer/WAR/vents), which has solved that particular problem quite nicely.

Ammo racked, commander killed, gunner killed, gun damaged. Every game I get a combination of these without fail :P if a shell hits near the viewport, in the turret/gun mantle then this stuff starts going.

The cromwell is nice and i love it personally, but the armor and module damage tendency is horrendous, it definitely does not deserve a nerf, since its one of THE MOST historical vehicles in the game as far as specs and abilities go, with the exception of the top gun. even tier 4's pen it with ease, where as an easy 8, t34/85 and VK series can mostly ignore these pesky buggers with their frontal armor. Truthfully, yes, it is a sized up T50 with better MM, but it suffers for it in many ways, so if they nerf it, it would be one of the most stupid nerf moves made by WG.

The only thing with this tank is that the MM tends to be a very harsh mistress with it.  Whilst i've been put in low teir matches, they are few and far between and I keep getting dumped with teir 8s and then that nice gun is of little use as most of the big boys you can barely hurt, i'm finding myself using 20 rounds of gold ammo for those matches which is getting bloody expensive now.

hp pool= 3/5: fragile medium: cant take 2 shots from kv1s... still able to beat e2 and e8 solo...
armour = 2/5 : decent front hull and turret but extremely weak module...spg (or heat) will hurt you like hell

camouflage rate = 3/5: excellent stationary rate but when you fire... get out asap if too close... still great hit and run tactic
view range = 5/5: great work with optic... you will find them before they find you... great reverse speed too...
radio = 5/5: you will already be at middle of map while you still able to share your information to your slow moving ally far away

mobility/speed = 5/5: insanely fast... decent climbing power... great reverse speed again...
agility = 4/5: turn hurts speed a bit... but there is few slow fatass like kv2 that you can circle to the death

gun = 2/5: joke for t6 due to weak alpha damage and decent penetration... apcr does help to pen front kv series if you are trouble to flank them... not great for peek a boo job... only good at flank or end of game...
gun depression= 5/5: great mountain tank... problem is turret is very flat... and fragile...
shooting while moving = 4/5: pretty accurate imho...

conclusion= cromwell is "heavy amour light tank", excellent flanker, scouter, anti-scouter and finisher... pretty OP for med tc...

yes i recommend nerf cromwell with hp pool by 10% and agility by 10% (not speed) but boost camouflage rate by 5% when move and fire only...

WHat are you smoking? The Cromwell has NO armour worth the name and needs the health to survive to try and do anything, you said its fragile, reducing its health would just make it even more one shottable.  Other Teir 6 mediums can take a wallop or pack a decent gun,  or are both, the Cromwell is not heavily armoured, its fragile, undergunned and hits like a flailing kitten.

^^^^^^THIS^^^^^

Excessive module damage and tissue paper armor. Further amplified by gold ammo.

Food for VK3601....and tasty too!

I only have 38 battles in my Cromwell.
Crew at 84%. Only playing with Vents for equipment at the moment.
I am LOVING this tank!

However... If I had to choose between this tank and my VK3601, I'd take the VK all day everyday.

The bottom line is every tank has its role. It comes down to the driver to realize where his strengths and weaknesses are.

In my opinion, the cromwell is not OP. It does not need a nerf.

If after 6 months the stats show that the Cromwell is pwning the field of play, THEN you can nerf/adjust its settings. It's still way too early to suggest what needs to be changed.

If anything needs to be changed, it's your own tactics. You can't do the same thing over and over again. Adapt or Die!

Used to hate this tank because you take a hit and you might as well call it a day because something or someone is dead. Once I got my crew over 90%, it performed so much better. I can shoot on the move, circle heavy tanks, and brawl against T5 and some T6 tanks. Favorite moment was me circling an SU-100 while 3 of his friends tried to hit me. They missed, I killed him, and drove on. This thing can be a fun little bastard.

I found that you can't be alone in this tank, you have to support something bigger to draw the fire away from you.

Overall, I love this tank now and will be sad to move to the Comet.
