I am not best pleased with being 'locked' to the US or EU server. Like most people I have a wide variety of friends from both sides of the ocean and I either have to put up with a high ping to play with friends or play on the EU server, where most of my friends won't be playing.

I agree; as a native American English speaker, I simply prefer the NA servers, both for the people and the language.

I can already guess what the EU servers are going to be like; the only English speakers will be from Britain, and from my time on XBL I know that many online multiplayer Brits are, eh, vocal and brash, to say the least.

And don't get me started on the amount of spammed French/Italian/Czech/Polish/whatever that will be all over the EU servers.

You do realise that most people in EU learn English as a secondary language? Sure, many don't know proper spelling and grammar, but that doesn't mean they can't make themselves understood.

OT: I can't wait for the patch, the lag spikes are killing me (literally), especially in the evening when there's 10K+ players.

I believe I'm being misunderstood. I'm Belgian, and I speak four languages fluently. American English is the main language I speak, simply because of my circle of friends and the university I study at.

From what I've seen on XBL and WoT so far, EU servers will most likely be populated with players speaking their own mother tongue. I don't blame them, if I had friends on WoT who spoke Dutch, I'd speak Dutch to them. However, it's this simple fact that leads me to my preference of American servers, because there, English will not only be encouraged but also enforced by annoyed players.

Look, I get it, I don't blame anyone for wanting to communicate in his own language. But, I want a game where communication is simple and non-convoluted by language barriers (and the frustration that comes from players spamming away in their language), and for that reason, I will be playing on NA servers.

I think it is of cumbersome importance to clear that NA/EU server thing: if I go for EU server and a friend of mine for NA one, would we see each other again? Or those server will be 2 separate WoT universes so to speak?

Alright I have a quick question about how xp is going to be calculated for those of us who went through the september wipe. Will the free xp given to us in this latest soft wipe be based on the amount of xp shown in the statistics page, or will it use all xp we have invested in the research tree plus xp on hand?
This is the question I would like answered as well.  Before the last soft-wipe I had enough XP to get an S-51, IS-7, and T-44, then the XP tables were reset and I've since spent far less time grinding tanks since the last wipe.  I really hope we get our cumulative XP back and not just the XP earned since last wipe, as I will have a truly crazy credit/XP ratio, having around 17-18 million credits and only 500k XP.

Could a dev please respond to this issue when time permits?

Great newsletter both in style and substance. Looking fwd to the return of EU servers for a possible performance boost.

In any case lots of goodies to come by end of the year  :Smile_great:

The question is: how will EU server and oncoming soft wipe work with Battle League, where both US and EU teams are present?  :Smile_honoring:

Yeah, and there a lot more countries which have fluently or almost fluently speaking people.

The server separation is going to be very unpleasant for me as an EU citizen living in the US. Half the friends I play with are in the US and half are in the EU and I am certainly not going to have two accounts...

Oh and we all speak English fluently.

I'm not going to repeat myself; read my post, 2nd one on this page. I live in the Netherlands, so yes, I do know they're very fluent English speakers. My point was though, if there are multiple Dutch players together on a team, the tendency will be that they will communicate in Dutch with one another.

Yes, but we are talking about the whole EU here, if I'm on a server and want to make myself understood (joking about the Priest for eg), I'm not going to presume everyone speaks my native tongue, so I will default to English. There will be exceptions to the rule, but English will still be used the most.

The best implementation would be to use the same account on both EU and US servers, that would solve the friends on both continents dilemma. Ultimately you can choose whatever server you like, but in your case I believe the premise is flawed.

PS: I initially presumed you we're an American living in Europe by the "as a native American English speaker". Making sweeping generalisations about various nationalities didn't help either.
