Please research this battle. I hit an AMX38 30 times, and did only 95HP damage. Is this possible without hacking? If yes, please advise what would be better? (different shells?) If no, please investigate.

was that 30 shots or 30 HITS. if APC not working switch to HE and as far as hacking everything is server side so you can't hack

You have so many battles with the T18 it blows my mind.

How far away were you shooting from? AP rounds lose effectiveness the longer they fly in the air.

Learn the vulnerable points of vehicles. It also depends on what gun you have.

The AMX 38 has frontal armor of 60 mm, and if he angled to increase the deflection, both the 37mm and 2 pdr on the T18 only avg about 56-64 mm of penetration.

the AMX 38's armor can stop anything your T18 can throw at it, especially AP and even if all 30 hits were HE 95 damage wouldnt surprise me with how tough that thing is.

What gun/ammo were you using? I've been hit 82 times in my AMX38 before I died, and it was only the 83rd that killed me. In that same battle, I hit another AMX38 about 25-30 times before I finally figured out a way to kill him too. Most rounds bounce off that little critter.

Might get better responses if you posted a replay and more information about your vehicle's configuration.

What gun where you using?

What type of ammo were you using?

What was the positioning?

What was the range?

All of these contribute to the ability to do damage to a target.  Just because you shot at a target doesn't mean you penned it.  Just because you hit a target doesn't mean you got pen.  Just because you got pen doesn't mean that you did damage.

SO on the first and second bounce you keep using the same shell type and wonder why it isnt working? You should always change shell type on the first bounce.

no. by your logic you should switch to HE on a jagpze100 if you bounce your first shot on a maus.

Given the OP has a 40% hit rate, I'd say shots.

Thanks for all the replies and good questions.

I meant 30 HITS, as shown on my battle results, from about 1 mile, I think, all perpendicular directly on his side.

The gun was the tier 4 QF 20PDR MK. IX, 40mm. The shells were the default 1.57" armor-piercing AP rounds. Next time I will definitely switch to the HE rounds to see if that works.

Incidentally, I once had 9 kills in one battle with this tank and gun, so I know it is usually effective.

Without any proof we can argue til kingdom come and still won't know what happened.

Replays come in handy on these situations.
