I use a CH Products Fighterstick. It came with software so I can map the buttons and axis to keyboard keys and use macros etc. The game will not naitively recognize joysticks or controllers as the game is strictly for digital input (keyboard) and not made for analog input (game controllers).

What joystick did you get and did it come with software for keyboard/key mapping?

I think there is also 3rd party software called Joy2Key that will map keypresses to joystick buttons.

Yeah I don't think you can play WoT with a joystick, I can't even imagine how one would do it.  :Smile_mellow:

Just wondering, is WoT controller compatible?

WOP is made for a joystick and you wont play that game well with just a keyboard.WOP naitively supports analog control.

A joystick to be use in WoT would be great. And it be easy to to do. I have played a game call Auto Assault which had cars, trucks and tanks. I used a joystick to drive and fire the weapons. Attack 3 wouldnt work good on game like this, Would need WingMan Extreme Digital 3D joystick.  Reason is turning the turret

Actually there is a way to use a joystick in the game. I asked support and they sent a reply but had to get them to walk me through it.  Make sure when you contact them you tell them what kind of controls you are using. I am using the Saitek X-52 Pro system with rudder pedals. Anything that can be remapped can be used.

I know this is not what you're asking OP, but really, in WOT the game's controls are just not set up to work well with a joystick/controller. In other words, the way your tank is controlled, you are hindering yourself greatly. The mouse simply points at a place and the game makes your tank turn the turret to face it, the traverse rate of the turret controlling how fast it happens. Also, no matter how good you are at a joystick and aiming guns with it in other games where the joystick directly controls the pitch/yaw, you are greatly outmatched by a $7 mouse I can use to point and aim at your tank's commander hatch, while you'll be struggling to keep moving your aim just at my tank as I'm rocking it back and forth, never mind keeping it on a weakspot (past tier 5, all you get).

Again, don't want to start the age old "mouse vs. joystick" debate, but it's simply a matter of playing how the game works best, vs. handicapping yourself trying to get a more "sim" like experience (which this game really is not).

WoWP though, hell yes. I tried the beta with a mouse and it is just not right. Joystick for sure!

If a mouse is so much better than a joystick they should start putting them in Current top of the line Tanks

I use this (see link below) and it works just like a PS3 or Xbox controller.  It comes with software that lets you assign the buttons. I use the left joystick to drive and the mouse to aim but you can use the right joystick for aiming if you prefer.

Joystick has only one advantage in aiming but it's an important one in RL combat; they can be operated regardless of how the vehicle is shaken, or what other G-forces the vehicle undergoes. They willingly trade accuracy and speed for that, in the same way that they trade speed for armor. Mice require a flat surface and a bit of space, and neither trackballs nor mice can be used very well when the vehicle shakes or undergoes a 5G turn.

For a PC game, mouse is superior as the advantage that joystick has is useless unless you are play in the middle of a 9.7 earthquake.Joysticks are useful for maneuvering as they offer more intuitive control over magnitude, so it boils down to whether you want to control position or velocity. For position, mouse or trackball; for velocity (like flying a plane), joystick.

Also, I have yet to see a joystick with enough buttons to handle WoT. You need 8 for repairs, 4 for battle comms  (Affirmative, Negative, Help, and lighting a target), a way to control zoom since you don't have a mouse wheel, a way to switch to overhead view if you play arty... oh, and a trigger so you can fire.

You can use the attack software to setup the joystick controls how you want them... You can drive the tank with remapped wasd setup, ANd STILL AIM WITH the mouse.
