[Captain_Judo]

Throughout the month of December, we wish to introduce a new tournament format intended to give teams practice for the upcoming eSports year.

Scrimmages will give teams the opportunity to practice organized, competitive gameplay using the 7v7 42-point format. The following rules describe the structure of this event:

• Teams are dispersed into equivalent, round-robin groups.
  
• Each group is limited to 10 teams max.
  
• The team with the most points after group play is complete is considered the winner of that group.
  
• The tournament concludes immediately after group play.

Scrimmages will be held on Friday nights (5:00PM PST - 7:00PM PST), Saturday afternoons (3:00 PM PST - 5:00 PM PST) and Sunday afternoons (3:00 PM PST - 5:00 PM PST).

Tier Limits
With a maximum number of 7 players per battle and team, a team must field a selection of tanks based on the below tier limits. Teams are limited to a maximum total of 42 tier points.

• Heavy: 8
  
• Medium: 8
  
• Light: 8
  
• TD: 8
  
• SPG: 8

Victory Conditions

• Only 1 battle will be played for each round. A victory awards 3 points. A draw awards 1 point. A loss awards no points.
  
• Each battle will last 10 minutes.

Prizes
The following prizes will be provided to each member of the respective team:

• First place of each group: 1,000 gold

Please note that teams tied for first will not be awarded prize winning gold.

Registration
Registration for each scrimmage will close on Thursday at 6:00 PM PST (9:00 PM EST)

I recommend reading the rules again. I think you missed a few key components.

Sounds like a neat concept. I like the timings of such events as they are much more... convenient, per se.

Sounds great, I just have a couple questions, though:
Do teams have to register for each night?
How many extras per team?
Is the map and gametype the same or just random throughout the night (or weekend)?

funny you mention this...when i put together a "selection" of tanks for the vet challenge  [1 from each  tank type and no larger then the tier limit required]...my crew came up against nothing but a bunch of heavys...when i requested  [with screen shots of match play  and the other teams players ect...] Capt J, let me know that there was no DQ involved...so  ...instead of giving the example that confuses ppl..how is this guys example wrong GD?...

If you READ the RULES again you would realise that the above setup is over the 42 POINT LIMIT and the 7 PLAYER LIMIT. Below is a setup that would accomodate your love of ISU heavy lineup but would conform to the rules as well.

Its the same rules that russia/europe uses for their tournaments hence no limit on auto loaders.

A few questions:

1. So, this is like the Round Robin section of the Veteran's Challenge a few weeks ago, with no Playoffs or Finals?

2. Is the Round Robin 3 days in a row, or are teams broken up and some teams be placed on Friday, some on Sat, and some on Sun, or will each team be able to sign up for a specific day?

3. Can a team sign up for all 3 days?

4. Can a player be on 3 different teams, one team for each day?

It would be nice if we only had to sign up once for all 4 Fridays in the month. Is this a possibility? Besides that, it is a fantastic idea.

Does this mean that a good team could win 1000 gold Friday and 1000 more Saturday and 1000 more on Sunday?

It would be interesting to have a new set of limits for each scrimmage.  The first one could be as listed.  The second could limit autoloaders, etc.  The third could reduce tier points for every tank less than 7 that a team chooses to field.  Maybe count the tier 5 lights as their matchmaking values or higher (like the VK 2801, Chaffee, and T-50-2 as tier 7s).  Mixing up the maps would be good too.  Or how about the tier limits for lights, arty, etc.

Beyond that, having some other tiers and tanks would be fun.  As interesting as the tier 8 with 42 points is, it has been the focus of many events, especially the high profile ones.  If you want similar restrictions and team builds, try:
Tier 7 with 37 points
Tier 6 with 32 points
Tier 5 with 27 points
Tier 4 with 22 points
Tier 3 with 17 points
Tier 2 with 12 points
