Well this is the third time today I've had to post in the forums about an error installing the game.  I've been installing the test server and just when I click on the Play button this pops up.

The program can't start because d3dx9_43.dll is missing from your computer.  Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

I know your all going to say, "reinstall it then" but I really don't feel like waiting hours just to possibly have the same problem pop up again.  So what I want to know is if there is a fix for the problem without having to go through all this trouble, and if there isn't will reinstalling it actually fix it?

Just don't play the test server then, just watch Youtube videos on it.
This happens to me as well, but instead of aiming a nerf gun at my head I just take a sip of water and play the live server.

But if you have an internal desire to play the test server, send a support ticket, they'll probably help you there, or post on the error topic for the 8.2 test server, they might help you there.

It means your DirectX install is corrupted for whatever reason

and sorry, but reinstalling DirectX from Microsoft's website is the simplest solution

though odd he doesnt get the same error when running other games...

at least i am assuming he doesn't.

Make sure you have both these installed:

DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

1. Download and save http://www.microsoft...ls.aspx?id=8109 (DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) Version: 9.29.1974 Date published: 4/18/2011). File name should be directx_Jun2010_redist.exe (about 95.6 MB).

2. Extract by running the executable file - you will be prompted for a location.

3. After the exe has completed the extraction, open the folder the files were extracted to and locate the .cab file with the same name as that of the .dll missing: if d3dx9_43.dll is missing, find the file with d3dx9_43 in the file name - Jun2010_d3dx9_43_x64.cab or Jun2010_d3dx9_43_x86.cab depending on your Windows installation.

4. Extact the selected .cab file to a location of your choosing.

5. Copy the desired .dll from the folder the .cab was extracted to, and place it into the WoT installation folder on your machine (possibly C:\Games\World_of_Tanks).

6. Attempt to restart WoT.

Note: this did not require re-installing WoT or restarting Windows (Vista). Previous attempts to run the directx update did nothing - I was on directx 11, the files missing were directx 9 and 10 (after I placed d3dx9_43.dll, WoT couldn't find d3dx10_43.dll which is included in the same .exe download).

7. 19Kilo - good to go?

8. Gunner HEAT tank!

9. Standby!

10. Fire!

11. On the way!

12. Up!

13. Gunner HEAT Tank!

14. Standby!

15. Fire!

16. On the way!

17. Up!

18. Repeat as necessary.

This web installer will check which DX9 libraries are missing and will retroactively install them (download size: up to 70 MB)
