Right so as the title says, i'm a few k exp from either m4 sherman or T1 heavy. Now i'm not interested in answers like " depends on your playstyle" but rather an answer to which line of american tanks is most worthwile, the heavy or the medium. I already have a kv-3, how does the M6 compare for example. Or for instance is the medium tank line for americans better than the german one etc. Stuff like that.

Thanks in Advance

I skipped the Sherman and went the T1 Heavy route. You can see some of the T1 Heavy videos I made here: http://worldoftanksf...yword/t1 heavy/

I enjoy it.

Id go with the sherman. Its got the 105 which can damage just about anything. Though it has litte in the way of armor. Almost anything above it can one shot it. But it excells at long range engage ments and has the speed to easilt pop up from behing a hill fire and retreat.

For me the Sherman well upgrade it you have a combat use as a Tank destoyer and scout in the T-1 with its 76mm and other US heavy tank except for a 90MM GUN on a tank well let say you are a big bunker, slow moving and when face by a German Heavy King tiger tank your dead meat with its powerful 88MM

I suggest you can go to T1 route ,
but you can also buy a Sherman, because Sherman is money earning tank
you can get money easily by Sherma

The Sherman was a fun tank.  The T1 was a painful grind.  I got my T1 fully upgraded but never made it to the M6.

Go the M4 you will enjoy it more.I have both the T-1 and M-6 (they are the same tank basiclly) the M-6 you have to get xp for the same cannon and turrent (2nd cannon fires sligthly quicker). You have more survivabilty with the M4 using the 105mm....my thoughts anway :)

I went both directions.  M4 and T1.  M4 is now maxed with 96% crew and have decided to keep it.  Still trying to churn through the T1 which isn't too shabby, just a slug for a Heavy like the other early ones are.  Also got the Easy 8 and will be keeping that one, too.

I went with the M4 Sherman since I plan to go Heavy tank with the Germans. The 105mm is great. When I'm one of the highest level tanks in game I will get at least 2-4 kills. Being able to damage heavies is also a plus, especially when you have the speed to run away if things get messy.

So a Sherman 105 can defeat a T-1 with 76mm head to head?

I don't know if I would go that far.  Under the right circumstances it's possible but the T1 will have more hitpoints.  In addition the 76 is fully capable of penetrating the sherman and the 76 has a far better rof then the 105.

The main advantage to the M4 has over the T1 is that it simply isn't a slow grind through exp like the T1 is.  It's all subjective.

105 sherman with 100 crew and vent unit and and rammer and gun laying drive will tear up just about anything tier 6 and down(this does not apply to standing out in the open and trying to trade blow for blow with a 3601).  Just be smart and pick your opponents. Firing up the tree with your HE rounds bring good cred and xp and if you get a good match with you at the top you will have a blast . And also notice the premium round 105 stats. This gun is killer.

As part of my project to unlock all tier 6 I've played both these tanks. And yes your style does come into it ;)

The T1 is fast for a heavy (only talking fully upgraded) but still slow in the grand scheme. The gun is great: fast reload, decent pen for the tier and accurate. It's the size of a house though, literally larger than the small buildings on some maps making cover difficult to find. Unfortunately the M6 is also like a river barge once you get past this whale ;)

The sherman is quickish, not too huge and I personally prefer the m1a1 gun. RoF is good, pen is great and again good accuracy. It's still fairly boxy though so can catch more incoming than other tanks.

Although I tend toward heavy tanks, the Sherman is a much more enjoyable tank to play and grind with. The armour is thinner than the T1's, but the M4 is much quicker and agile than that lumbering hulk called the T1. It's only a heavy tank because of its weight and nothing else. I've had both tanks, and I've kept my Sherman and moved from the T1 to the M6. Should there ever be a softwipe, I'll be getting the Sherman again.

Don't waste that excruciating Lee grind on getting an M4. Buy the T1 and if you want a Sherman, go through the M7 and get an E8 instead; the M7 is a ton more fun to grind with than that Lee, especially with the new 6pdr stats.

Funnily enough I didn't mind doing the Lee apart from the no turret thing it was a great little tank for it's tier. Oh and being a big square target.

I thought the jump from the Lee to the M4 was the most painful step-up I've come across in this game.  The T1 sucked at first, but the M4 just made that look like a treat.   The maxed Lee could be fun when it was near the top of the list.  It didn't help that I was the top tank in the first 5 of 7 battles in my M4.   ...and I was spanked hard.    I had to burn FXP to get up to the big gun and make it playable.

The M4 is much more fun, having used both.

Of course which one to use is determined really but what path you wish to go. If you plan on going down the US heavy line, well, the T1 is the only choice really unless you really want to grind an extra 13k XP in the M3 (shudder) to just have the M4 - which is certainly an option.

A friend of mine just gave me a revelation about the M4.  My loltraktor had a better WLR than the M4 up to his advice.

Treat it like a heavy and use the 105mm gun.  It's so tall that in all of my normal medium hiding spots I would get arty killed in the M4.  Now that I hide near much larger map buildings and landscape objects, it has become a treat.  When I'm top tank I just hide in villages and near rocks and try to lure the KDR whores and one shot them.

Unlike my friend, I seem to take module damage and crew deaths a lot more than he does.  We just ran 5 matches together, were hit about the same number of times by the same tanks and I lost modules and crew 3 times while he lost none.
