Why is it that, when you capture a base it takes FOREVER for the match to officially end?

So many matches I've had where the enemy base gets captured but since it seems to take what seems to be minutes for the match to finally close out the remaining enemy team gets killed yet THAT is what determines the outcome not the fact that I was staring at 'base captured' a hell of a lot longer. I know it really isn't minutes for the server to finally go, 'oh hey they actually captured that base!' but it sure as hell seems like it while obviously ending the lifespan of the enemy team is recognized instantaneously.

It states in the Wiki theres a 5-10 sec delay for a match to end. If you die and you so happen to be the last tank your team you would lose.
Its RARE though.

When a base is successfully captured, there is a short delay before the game ends. This delay is extended by a few seconds every time a player is destroyed during its duration.

Had a match where it took like 20 seconds, three tanks where on the cap,  three tanks were engaged with the enemy across the map, the capping party never took any hits, I thought it lagged out....

I think it's more annoying killing 2/3 of the tanks on cap after it hits 100% and before it ends, and not win/get it reset. Cowardly arty capping instead of trying to kill my one-shottable T-28.

This game doesn't really have overtime, but I wish it did.

Well when the words "Base captured" appear you can no longer reset the bar, which is what annoys the hell out of me that it takes so effing long for the match to end after said point. I've had far too many matches end NOT because the base was capped but because the last few survivors were killed in the time AFTER IT WAS CAPPED.
