If the day ever arrives when we can use the 37mm along with the 75, it would be an interesting tank to drive around.

Backdoor announcement of an event tank?

In the video, it said that "The 75mm gun was used because players were already familiar with the 37mm gun on the m2mt.", but what I don't understand is why on the Char B1Bis, the 47mm gun is used and not the howitzer in the hull. People are already familiar with the tiny caliber guns on the French tanks preceding it, so why doesn't the B1 have the hull turret be in use too?

Because the 75mm howitzer would actually be less useful than the 47mm.

The Lee was the longtime holder of the title "Suckiest tank in WoT"
Now there is the AMX40, and i think it's a close tie...
Lee has a hull mounted gun
A meh gun at that
It's massive, so essentially zero camo
It's armoured with paper - it can bounce some tier 3's... but not anything past it
With the top engine it has decent maneouvreability
That's... all i've got
You are not a heavy tank
You are not a flanking tank
You are not artillery
Therefore...
The only way i got through this GIANT monstrosity of poop was to play it like a td.
Find a lot of trees.
Wait behind them...
Don't be the first tank to fire at your target, so you aren't the first spotted by the enemy
Fire until you see a gun point at you
Run/back away to a new ambush spot
Hopefully live and win!

The 75 mm L/17.1 gun, [...] , had a limited traverse of only one degree to the left or the right (equating to about 18 metres at 500 m range)

Pretty much sums it up... the 75mm would be pretty easy to flank and unusable for shooting at ANY moving target. Also the traverse speed of the B1 isn't as good as the one the M3 Lee has, so it would be even worse if you get flanked.
At last the secondary arnament of the B1 is at least a bit better (47mm compared to 37mm), so it isn't a completely useless peashooter (like the M3 Lee gun).

I'm a large fan of the lee. Amazing tank on the right map. Reminds me of my Russian TD though. Great tank depending on the map, feels pretty bad on city maps though.
#15 Posted Dec 24 2012 - 15:55
Ah yes the tank that almost made me quit WOT gets it's time in the spotlight.
#16 Posted Dec 24 2012 - 16:01
So when does Lee's brother Grant come into world of tanks? Would it be a brit tank or American?
#17 Posted Dec 24 2012 - 16:02
Did they imply we'll soon be seeing a Len Lease Soviet Lee in the game? Presumably under the MG-6 name.

Does Captain Kirk narrate these things?
but seriously, I liked the Lee, but not enough for me to defend it.

"You will remember it". Who can forget. Once I got the hang of it and used it as I would a TD, it became fun. But then, the T40 will kick Lee's butt any day of the week. Better gun, better power/weight ratio, lower profile. When faced as an enemy, I'd rather shoot at a Lee than a T40.
