i think what I'm getting at is that the gripes and complaints voiced here are what we like to call the "vocal minority".  You hear about how bad the events are and how they ruin the game and blah blah blah, but the truth is there are a relatively small percentage of people acting the fool when the complaints are formed.  You have just as much a chance of entering a match with some idiot that wants to drown himself, or roadblock his team, or team kill or act like a jackass in chat as you do someone dropping everything and trying to score an in-game reward.

I want to see mroe events, events are fricken FUN!  Anybody remember the "blood plague" in World of Warcraft?  Holy hell, it was hilarious!  There were panic in teh streets, bodies everywhere, some jerks were running around spreading it, some were working ot heal those affected, some stayed away from hot zones while others just didnt play for a while.

Events are interesting social experiments, dont just stop doing them because you're afraid of humans acting like retarded monkeys....we ARE retarded monkeys.

Don't worry, I'm not looking to get rid of the sheriff events. Part of our philosophy is to design events like this. We have to make money as a business, but we're also going to stick to our guns that the game is free to play, and that means giving away gold as a reward for events. 500 gold as it was before this particular sheriff event is insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

Like I mentioned in a recent thread about removing the countdown--not everyone can afford to upgrade their computer at the drop of a hat, and not everyone can afford to pull out their wallet every time a purchase in-game is involved. We realize that, and we respect it.

At the end of the day, even if you can't spend the most money on your block, you're still contributing to the game. This is a player versus player game after all, so everyone counts. Without the player base as a whole, there are a lot less tanks driving around, which results in potentially longer queues and a weaker experience once you're in a battle.

So we're going to continue designing these kinds of events, because it gives someone an opportunity to pick up a garage slot, or some free experience, or to retrain a crew. You might even be able to pick up some premium time, purchase some camouflage or top off the gold needed to buy a premium vehicle. We're fine with that.

General, if you guys want some real exposure, you guys should do a Super Bowl commercial!  Already have those intense trailers when releasing new tanks with updates, why not mesh some of that together?  I bet you the next day, you will have 20k+ accounts registered that were not there before the game.

And to stay on track, I feel that 500 gold is nice, but it would be better if the team got a small gold payout (ie 25,50 gold or maybe 200 free exp) and the person who killed the sheriff got the 500 so it would make it less of a leroy jenkins for the sheriff

GeneralDirection can I ask 2 simple queastions about game mechanics.

1. Can matchmaker make sure there are 2 sheriffs in a game?  Ilke 1 on each side....

2.  Could the sheriff killer get 500 gold, but the non sheriff team all get 500 free xp as a defense reward?

Neither of those are possible right now. The sheriff mechanics are very basic at the moment.

We're discussing some ideas to improve the sheriff system, including what you're suggesting (maybe not the exact numbers, but similar).

Really the only improvement I could see would be to not have the sherrif platoon up with anybody.  They should be an independant entity in my eyes.

I WILL JUST STATE THE FOLLOWING,

most of FREEMIUM players search ways of geting gold, sherif is one, please dont remove chances for freemium players to get gold, most of us dont care about XP.

The best part was one of the community guys scolding correcting another poster that the cut was only 90% not 95%.

Like it makes a difference after 90% is cut.  Thats like telling me not to worry its just a small T Rex attacking.....

Considering you have over 12,000 battles played in a game that is FREE to play, you really should be kicked in the taint for this comment.

I've never played for free. Go kick your own nads. I've also never shot a sheriff. Do the math if you have any brains. Dispite the statment that the cost is
insignificant? It really is not. Couple that with some shady stuff that happened. I can see it killed.

Direct confirmation that the change was due [at least in part] to whining.

Knowing that whining helps: Getting obliterated 30 seconds into a tier 10 game by arty is some of the least fun I've had.  A limit of FIVE isn't going to do anything, and the new nerfs do nothing to address insane damage an accuracy.

I would rather have the Sheriff be anonymous, just a message saying there is a sheriff present during this match and have the game randomly pick someone and make them the sheriff.  No red tent and no special names, and at the end the person that killed the sheriff gets a little surprise when they get to the garage.  If the sheriff survives then give the gold to the sheriff.

#2 would completely change objectives of current game modes and would lead to matches similar to the Assault Mode with the Sheriff team camping like there's no tomorrow.

If you're truly looking at diversifying the rewards in sheriff events and not messing up the game play of the people in those events, how about giving away credits and/or free xp.  Not just regular xp, but the actual free xp that doesn't need to be converted.  The gold equivalent of each metric would be 200,000 credits and 20,000 free xp.  And instead of making the goal to kill the sheriff or defend him, make the goal to win the match.  Each person on the winning team gets 2,500 free xp.  Or each person on the winning team gets a 25,000 credit bonus.  You can even work it so that the guy who kills the sheriff gets a bonus as well.  This gives players rewards based on winning, not just killing a particular tank.
