was reading the wiki and it said "Note that unlike what the in game description of the view range enhancing equipment indicates, there is no 500m limitation. View range is unlimited. The better your view range, the better your spotting range, at any range." but many people have said to me that it is limited

Spotting/detection range is limited to 445 meters. That's the engine limitation.

Unfortunately, so many of the descriptions/explanations of things by WG are either misleading or flat out wrong that it's difficult to rely on any of those descriptions/explanations.

You won't spot anything beyond 445 meters, regardless of circumstances. Outfitting for more than 445 meter spotting range does however help: a tank with 450 meter spotting range won't spot a stationary Maus at 400 meters, but a tank with 550 meter spotting range will. View range cancels camouflage factor, and a tank with more view range will spot camouflaged tanks out further.

Spotting range is limited to 445 meters, however viewing range isn't limited.

Spotting range is your effective view range, so you take your view range, and then that is decreased depending on camo of the enemy or bushes etc.

Having a viewing range over 445m won't allow you to see enemies further than 445m away, but will allow you to see more heavily camo'd enemies at that distance than if you only had 445m view range.

very long time ago, some wise russian frind  speaker of mine told me this "isnt view range, is view quality"

then i understod how this works

the more the view quality you have, the more far you will spot tanks that have "better cammo" (resistance to be spoted)

yea my english isnt good, but i think you will get the point

spot range  is 445, max view distance of tanks is around 700.
you will never spot a inmovile not shoting stug on 445. becaues has lot of ressistance to be spoted (aka cammo) you will spot him closer
