Howdy folks!  Once again the sheriffs are going to be unleashed upon battlefield.  From January 4-6th keep your eyes peeled for a sheriff and a chance to earn 1250 Free Exp!

Yeah! I love 'Shoot the Sheriff' events. It is so fun! At least I can get some XP to get rid of the barn on top of my ARL44.

EXP is always useful, though I do wish that it was gold.  I've only ever seen one sheriff, and was quite disappointed that I bounced two gold rounds off him, but that's life...or "game" rather.

I hope the Sheriffs actually come out this time, the last Sheriff even I only saw 1 in the few hundred battles I had, while in the Fall I saw like 30.

1250 free xp will not get you a tier 3 researched I get that much free xp evrey 50 matches

You may get 1250 free XP while trying to get into a Sheriff fight.... then good luck killing him, if you find one.

And we know how most of these Sheriffs likes to play. Having one in your team is a step closer to defeat.

This new prize for the sheriff event is a test to see how it goes.

I think you'll find the lure of free gold was a far greater motivator than a small amount of exp. Considering these competitions are the only way to get gold with out forking over hard earned cash, (excluding clan wars which most pubs aren't in) they did represent a real and pretty awesome bonus to the person who won them. A thousand exp is the same as winning one or two good battles in a tank. I say bring back the gold, everybody loves shiny things.

You can also win gold from the Caption Contest (weekly)  All-Star Contest (which should be running twice a month),  MVP contests (once a month),  creative contests (once a month),  twitter quizzes (monthly).  

There are other ways.  And like I said before this is a test and I am always open to feedback.

I feel like this is a bad change.  Sheriffs were always fun and exciting.  I've have tons of platoon offers because I tend to get a lot of Sheriffs and I love scouting them out.  Unfortunately people often suicide to get the sheriffs, and it won't be worth the extra exp to do that.

This bonus is only good in a low tier match, and even then it isn't special like 500g.

As for the creatives and all-stars, I participate in all the caption contests and haven't won a single creative contest, while I have killed 2 sheriffs.  I often even compete in the all star and mvp contests, but I'm always the most excited for the golden sheriffs.  Especially for something that barely gives more than the top gun contest did.

I like the gold from Sheriffs over the other contests because it was the only way to earn gold without going out of your way.  You didn't have to pay money.  You didn't have to come up with some clever saying or sign up for a contest and hope that you can fit your schedule into the right time, all you had to do is play matches and hope you see a sheriff.  It was rewarding to ordinary gameplay, albeit rare rewarding.


Edit:  Not to mention the fact that 1250 exp =/= 500 gold.  500 gold = 400000 silver (I think).  1250 exp = 2 strong matches.  400000 silver can be dozens of matches (in terms of profit).

are they ever gonna do a double contest that makes sense to promote positive gameplay?
Who Shot the Sherriff should be combined with 'we saved the sherriff' bonus for his team  (1250 exp to shoot him, 50 exp if he is on your team and lives)
Why not run operation invader and operation defender concurrently
confederate could be paired with either top gun or steel wall

giving a bonus for only 1 thing promotes a change in gameplay, pairing them up promotes team play (medium tanks get confederate more often than steel wall), and Top Gun bonus promotes not taking a damage hit and waiting for a kill shot
