ZS,

XVM is a stats display program, allowing you to see (in most configs) each players win percent in the current tank they are in, their overall battle total, and I believe their overall w/l ratio, To install it I believe there are some addition libraries to download and install and make sure your .NET is up to date and has all the needed service packs/fixes installed.

Once XVM is installed, you actually run XVM FIRST and it launches WoT for you. You will find the launcher in the directory XVM was installed to.

Hope this helps! If not, shout back, will see if I can assist further.

(No, I don't run XVM, IMO it tends to make you give up low percent chance fights and gives you a false sense of superiority in high win percent games)

Well, what are you expecting from XVM? I really dont think it will give you a better edge then maybe reading or watching some tutorials on tactics... it may even be a detriment if you are paying too much attention to it and not the game you know? It can be bad for people who use it to try and decide if they can win or not.

Either way what is it precisely you want to know about it?

To install though you need to have dokan library 0.6.0 installed
Then install the XVM base files as well as XVM stat into the game directory
You also have the option to use stock configuration or you can choose from a few player built ones.

If you need more detail let me know.

I'd say don't worry about installing it, just play the game and have fun.

Start by going to the XVM site:

Spoiler

1. Download and install dokan library (it will remain loaded on your PC unless you close the process manually... but no harm is ever done by it).

Spoiler

2. Download and install XVM mod files. In the website it's the file called "xvm-3.3.1.zip"

Unrar the files and paste them in the Mods folder.

3. Download and install XVM Stats launcher. In the website it's the files called "xvm-stat-1.1.0.zip"

Unrar the files and paste them in your main WoT folder, not in the mods folder, but in the WoT main folder (where the launcher is).

4. Make your own settings file for XVM mod and then save it to the right folder. This part is a bit tricky and it requires you to do know what you are actually doing there. Anyways, just go to this site:

Spoiler

There you will see everything that XVM has to offer option-wise. Just pick what you want and how you want it, then click on "Save", it will make a file for you, take that file and place it in ../World of Tanks/Res_mods/8.3/gui/flash

I hope that is the right folder... I'm at the office so I can't really check. Just put it in the "flash" folder inside the 8.3 one and you will be done with that.

5. Launch the game by using the XVM Stats launcher. Use the XVM launcher to open the game, it will open a command window and open the game on its own.

6. Try not to cry whenever you get a 5% win chance team. Remember... never surrender, give them hell for as long as there is HP left in your tank. If your team sucks like hell then show the enemy you are different. :Smile-izmena:

And there you go.

Does dokan library open up any ways for bad code to break into your machine, like Flash and Java and so on?

This is actually a better installer for XVM: XVM Updater - One-Click Install

Someone made a program to install all the files you need and put them where they belong. All in one click :D

Search YOUTUBE, there are videos on how to install it.

I ran without XVM this weekend, and seemed to scale back how I played. I was more cautious when moving to spots and taking longer to evaluate the situations and it turned out better. 3 of my 11 losses yesterday came from being in a Churchill III and being to slow to get back to cap after we wiped out the side we were on (2 Churchill IIIs and a Ram II). But I noticed I played better without it.

Maybe not better, but smarter.

Right.  Listen to the 48 percenter... listening to 48 percenters is a sure way to get better at the game.

XVM is not magic.  It lets you see who on your team, and your opponents team, are the good players and who are the 48 percenters that seldom have a clue.  Which is why 48 percenters whine so much about it.

If a good player makes a suggestion in-game, it might be a good idea to listen.  If a 48 percenter has rushed into the open or straight to cap and is now frantically banging on the "HELP!" button, you can ignore him.

Support the good players, let the 48 percenters wander off and die early or use them as meat shields to inflict as much damage as you can.

XVM is just a tool, not a cure-all for your own ability or lack thereof.  However, if you are serious about getting better and serious about winning, then it is a tool that helps.

xvm:  so much red.

There is nothing that xvm can do to improve game play for a person at 46%.

How to improve:  watch replays.  read tutorials.  learn from mistakes.  aim low.  dont sit in the open.  be patient. learn weakspots
