I have been at WoT for about a year and half now and this never seemed like a major problem to me, however, the content of in-game chats have become from bad to worse over the last few months. 'Your mom...blah blah blah', 'XVM says we lose, so all go suicide.....', 'wow your stats sck, go kill yourself'.....and so on and on and on, had a good folk the other day ranting about how all Americans are bad, but nowadays the most common one is 'your clan scks, uninstall'. Yesterday I had a platoon from a top tier clan, they all camped near their base, when my team rushed in and finished them off, they began a tirade of cursing and swearing of how 'noobs' are spoiling 'their' game and how we all deserve to be kicked out etc.

I couldn't care less about what was going on, but my damn screen fills up with all these retarded comments, that it is almost impossible to ignore. Most time (like 99% of the time), I don't want to hear what my own team has to say either other than the 'hot keys'.

So, should we just have a 'turn off in game chat' icon in the battle screen, so that you can turn on and off the in-game chat as and when you like during a game?

FYI: My ignore list says "Full", so I dunno what else to do.

EDIT: I play solo, it doesn't really matter if I listen to or someone listens to what I have to say in a random game. In a pub game, no one cares anyways.

There is a mod that removes in game chat. I have never used it myself so I am not sure if you would still get hot key info

I think there's a mod to turn off in-game chat. Check curse.com.

Why do you have the need to actually go down there and read all that stuff?

You can ignore bad chat and take only constructive input. That's what I do. You don't need a mod nor a function for that.

Yeah, but sometimes its really difficult to not say anything. Like this clan was ranting the whole frigging game about how pubbies are retarded idiots who have no life etc etc...............trying to keep quiet in some situations like that takes incredible patience.

To be Honest, I don't think team works exists in pub matches. It is more of situational awareness. I always go to support the weaker flank without being asked, or support the TD's for example, or kill incoming scouts etc......no one needs to tell me to do these things. Unless you are already on team speak, in a platoon etc. which I will never be in, in-game chat is worthless for me.

It's your kind of attitude the promotes the no chat mod.  If he doesn't want to see the garbage that fills the screen it's his business.  Learn to mind your own.

I don't want to have a blind player as team mate, that's all. Teamwork is my business too.

No sense of humor in these forums. People is way too serious...

Aside from the every-day-garbage, it's the only communication tool that we have in pubs.

A "Defend the base" message in time, a "Help" request, from time to time, can save the day. I prefer that over NOTHING, which is what happens if you deactivate the chat.

90% of the time, it doesn't help. 10%, it helps. I take that 10%.

I saw the sense in the OP's Post. Yes we all know there are stupid people who spam utter crap in chat and won't shut up. I've experienced this to the point where a team mate was berating me about camping the entire game and tried to reveal my location. I eventually had to move from the spot I was stationary in for a good 10th of the game because I was actually spotted and I passed the noob who had been doing nothing but talking the entire game. I had to resist the overwhelming urge to shoot him.

Afterwards I went on to destroy two tanks and cap for the win. Checked this guy's stats after the game, which is unlike me to be stat checking, but he pulled a whopping 46% winrate and Eff below 500 and < 300 WN4. MEH. Pubbies.

Sometimes I would really like to turn chat off but then I would be ignoring those few who actually have sense and something important to contribute. Such as warning me of an Approacing BatChat which I had been paying no mind to for whatever reason, or Be ignoring an Idea about how to approach a dangerous opponent like a  T30 which would make the process of removing such an enemy easier.

Regardless I still picked yes in the poll.

I run into the same situation.  Many games the chat is useful, but some are a huge distraction as a couple of idiots jam the chat with crap.

The best solution seems to be the Ignore List.  This way we can turn off just the spammers but still see the important messages.  However, like yours, my Ignore List is full.   :Smile_confused:

Maybe there is a better Ignore List mod out there, with more space to add entries?

Also, if so, maybe one with a way to flag different players.  For example, being able to flag player names that are good, helpful, responsive besides the TKers, really bad drivers, and unfair players.  That would be cool!
