Well if you plan on getting them get the IS-2 first. IS-2s 100mm gun is the T-34-1s best gun.

So far my grind on the T-34-1 has been very enjoyable. It's an awesome little tank and once it's got it's 100mm gun it can usually swing well in any match it sees.

I find myself reminded of the T-34-85 pre-7.5 only better.

T-34-1 is fun, funner than the T-43 grind which pissed me off with the lackluster pen of that pissant 85mm. It's nice actually being able to pen things my tier or higher without having to use gold rounds, and the camo on the T-34-1 is either damn good or I've just gotten good with the bushes. (Picked up a patrol duty in it doing passive scouting in the magic forest).

Definitely getting vibes from the old beta T-34-85, without that poor MM. Only thing that slightly irks me is the gun accuracy, since I take shots the same way I would on my 59, but with this thing they miss a lot of the time. So I have to wait longer for it to aim in on the T-34-1, and I'm not sure if that's to do with the base accuracy being .03 lower, or with the T-34-1 being unable to mount a vert stab.

Really enjoying the T-34-1.  I agree with the posters above, the gun feels a lot like the old D10T on T-34-85.  Slow-firing and slow-aiming, but good pen and alpha.  Like many Chinese tanks, it doesn't have good gun depression...but seems to be a little better than the truly awful depression of its Type T-34 and Type 58 predecessors.  Maneuvers well and reasonably fast on level or gradually sloping ground, although it's certainly not exceptional in either area for a medium.  Biggest mobility problem - climbs like a pig uphill.  Armor can be frontally bouncy against the regular AP ammo of same-tier and lower tanks.  I have noticed an ammo rack vulnerability...one of the very few tanks where it's been a big enough problem that I've at least considered using a Wet Ammo Rack.  Seems to have decent camo value (haven't seen numbers for Chinese tanks yet).

All in all, I find it a well-balanced, versatile tank.  It doesn't shine in any particular role, but not glaringly weak in any role either.  Having fun with it, it's not one of those tanks that really makes a grind feel like a "grind".  I don't know if I'll actually keep it once I move up, but it's certainly at least a candidate to remain in my garage.

Looking forward to the T-34-2 in a few days.

both are like Type 59 without the hull ricochet ability.

Additional data point to add regarding the T-34-1.

Just had a 2026xp game (premium account, but no, it wasnt the daily double).  It wasn't good enough for Ace.  In 15K+ battles, have never had a 2000+ game not qualify for Ace before.

That oughtta be some indication that there's some dudes out there kicking serious butt in this thing.

To be honest it feels like a tank that is fun to grind but not fun enough to keep.  It has a really good turret if you can hull down with it and the gun is plenty good enough to deal with anything you will see regularly but, unfortunately, the hull is a huge issue.  I have been one shotted more in this tank than I have ever been and I take significant ammo rack, gas tank, and driver damage literally every game.  Getting shot at all almost guarantees something is going to die in the tank.

The gun is VERY inaccurate with a horrible aim time but it really doesn't feel like it.  I typically hit what I aim at when stationary however the lack of gun depression will really hurt you if you are moving.  It is so bad that you probably won't hit a tank you are trying to circle unless the area is very flat.

If you can go hull down and set yourself up to where your gun is level with the ground or close to it you are golden.

One thing of note: The T-34-1 has fuel tanks in its front hull. According to several other people on the EU server this caused the T-34-1 to catch on fire CONSTANTLY from front hull penetrations. I never experienced this myself, because as soon as I got the T-34-1 I installed CO2 in the fuel tanks. A few other of the same EU players have mentioned that this equipment pieces makes a remarkable difference.
I STRONGLY recommend installing CO2 for this guy. I've been having very few problems with my ammo rack so I don't think Wet Ammo Rack is a necessity.

This tank is very small with a very low profile - you can side hug a heavy and most mediums and they cannot hit your hull only the turret iwhich is very bouncy. I easily take down T34's and Lowe's like this and the Super Pershings die easily too. Give it a try.

I have been having quite a few issues with the T-34-1 lately.  I perform well but I just don't win anymore.  It is actually so bad that I have gone from the high 50s to the low 40s in win rate and it seems to still be dropping.  It does burn a LOT and ammo rack issues have come up a few times for me but nothing too bad.  I have had a few games where I was ammo racked more than once and a couple where I was outright ammo racked but it isn't so common that I think I can't get by without a WAR.

This (T-34-1) doesn't work well for me. I don't want to sound like a downer but it feels like an inferior T-43 with more penetration. And the T-43 is not exactly an exemplary tank either... It reminds me of the old T-43 before they removed the D10T and gave it a better engine.

I find it very difficult to play due to the lack of gun depression and awful aim time. Coming from the British tanks it's almost a 180 degree reversal in playstyle, and I'm having lots of trouble adjusting. The turret is strong but not reliable - you have to hope the enemy bounces on your turret instead of your weak hull and with the total lack of gun depression it is difficult to exploit hulldown. The turret face is 170 which means many heavies at tier 7+ can just punch right through it (or get a lucky roll) if you hug them.

I've been having moderate success with the 34-1, really enjoying driving this thing. Then this happened.

Nice job.  In many tanks, Aces are aren't that hard to get...right now, however, T-34-1 isn't one of them.  Well done.

I finally just sold the T-34-1.  It is not a tank for me.  I have never had so many issues with a tank in my life.  It seems like every round that hits you takes out multiple modules and I have been set on fire multiple times in at least 3 matches tonight.  I did fairly well but kept losing repeatedly to the point that I went from a 60% to a 44% and could not break 45% again.  It may have just been bad luck because I had a few 85% nights but in the end it was not for me and it just was not an enjoyable tank.
