There are periodic threads spotlighting the most cost effective tanks to run.
What are the most expensive to run? And what are the the benefits (if any) to running them? Curious, especially sorted by tier, and ideally correlated with average xps earned.

Well Any tier 5 make good money. If you willing to buy gold Tier 8 premium tanks are the way to go.

Average XP earned is all about the driver. Anything in Tier 5 will be your best non-premium earners, with the high alpha tanks (BDR, T1HT) being the best earners.
The Tier 5 scouts (t-50-2, Cvhaffee and VK2801) will be your worst earners most of the time.
Tier 10 tanks will always lose you money. It gets progressively better the farther down you go. Without a premium account it becomes very hard to make money around tier 8.
In tier 6, the KV1S has ammo that costs 1,025 credits per shot, so if you miss too much you will end up losing money. that would be the least cost effective tank at a lower tier for me. that being said, it is one of my favourite tier 6 tanks and I make decent money off of it.

My SU-152 with Gold rounds can cost a lot... espcially with how I suck and all.

Tier 1-6 gains credits. The higher the tier, the higher the credits.
Tier 7 can gain, and can lose a little on a loss.
Tier 8-10 win, great credits, lose, lose credits.
+1 if this helped.

To quote SerB: "this guy must be a minmaxing accountant"
Tier 5-6 is generally the most cost-effective range, depending on how good you are. (the better you are, the more you can make tier 6 work for you). KVs and Shermans are typically near the top of most people's lists.
Tier 10 is generally the least cost-effective. XP tends to be higher in relation to tier, but good tier 9s can manage to earn xp similar to tier 10s if they can lay out a comparable amount of damage to equal and higher-tiered tanks instead of just equal and lower-tiered tanks.

KV-4 is a very expensive for it's tier. Very hard to break even on it without a prem account and even then...
A combination of low damage and high repair costs...

To you and others saying this, I am not asking for the MOST cost effective. I am asking for the LEAST cost effective, by tier. Do all tier 5's or 6's do equally well in the global stats? How bad are the worst? How about the other tiers?
The tone of the responses suggests that no one else has actually looked at this or thought about it.

JgPzE100 shooting gold....this thing can still have some seemingly random bounces and zero dmg (pens), and it doesnt take a lot of those in a match to rack up a massive bill......

I regularly lose credits on the M24 Chaffee. As a scout it gets put in high tier battles where it can be easily destroyed, even with 100% crew training and perks, and when played as Wargaming suggests. With a repair cost over 9000, and my average win credits being about 8000 (not to mention the significantly lower lose credits) I lose credits more often than gain them in battle with the Chaffee. Benefits? It is still a fun tank to play, maneuverable little bugger

105 derp Hetzer with full load of heat.
Expensive to run, but fun to run.

If you actually look at the numbers in those threads about the cost effectiveness of tanks, they include all the tanks in the game. Therefore the tanks that are the least cost effective (lowest on the list) are the most expensive to run.
Generally tier 5 is your most cost effective tanks in the game while end tier vehicles are the least cost effective (tier 8 arty; tier 5 "end line" scouts such as the T-50-2, Chaffee, and VK2801; or tier 10 tanks of any type).
As for the XP income... that generally depends on how well you play the tanks. The XP modifiers seem to be geared at some kind of balance for potential XP. Personal experience indicates XP income does seem to go up as you play a higher tiered vehicle, though not nearly as quickly as XP required for advancement. That said, having played several tier 9's, I believe that the vehicle I personally have the highest average XP on is the Tiger (H).

When you reach the higher tiers, repair costs can be the bane. Consider using premium tanks when running these high-ends, as a way to offset the repairs, since there is less of a drain on your piggy bank.

worst earner: chaffee.
followed by the other t5 scouts, then arty. Arty tier for tier has the worst cost per shell of all tanks and you have the worst hit rate, so less damage to earn with. That changes with t8 arty however.

ELC is guaranteed profit, but if you want to make some decent profit you'll have to hit a lot of targets, which isn't always easy.
ELC is a light tank, not a End Tier Scout like the T-50-2, VK2801 or Chaffee. It gets better MM than those other scouts too.
