EDITED:

The location has been confirmed to be Cafe Adobe's River Oaks facility. 2111 Westheimer, Houston, Texas 77098, 20:00

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This thread is for the player gathering in Houston, 18FEB 2013. If you're looking for the Charleston SC gathering, click this thread. If you're near neither place, this is not a thread for you to reply to!

WGA is on the road again, and we're looking to meet you.

Here's what we know:
  • There will be a gathering in Houston, TX, on the evening of Monday 18 FEB 2013, about 20:00
  • A few WGA personnel will be there

Here's what we don't know, and where, as we've done before, you guys come in:
  • Where exactly it will be
  • How many people will be there.

So, if you're interested in attending here's what you do:
  • Reply below and clearly state if you intend to attend, and if you're bringing a friend or two.  (Dear god, how hard can that be) .
  • This will give us an idea of how many people we need to accommodate. If you're under-21, please also tell us. (If nobody's under 21, it makes it easier to find a place)

If you have any suggestions on a place to meet, please state it below. It's your town, you know it better than we do. Here are the requirements:
  • Must be able to hear ourselves think. If we're going to be talking and answering your questions, we can't have a live rock band playing in the room. Or a German Oom-pah band, as happened in Fort Worth. Kareoke is also out.
  • Should be under-21 friendly. If we have to abandon this, so be it, but it is a preference.
  • Unless there's a good reason to go elsewhere, we'd prefer the Eastern part of the city. Central may work too.

We will return to this thread in a week or two, do the headcount, review the suggestions, and then post up where to meet.

Finally, if you're on the WoWP or WoWS forums, please only respond on one thread, so that we don't double-count you.

See you there.

Can we get one at West Point?  Or the NYC area that is under 21 friendly?

I live in Houston, might be able to bring a friend, depending on the transportation situation.

panzerpat and panzeryan will attend. 'ryan's under 21. I'll get back w/ ya on some good places to meet, that'll require some thought 'cause traffic is a major beeotch in Hou.  evenings from 4 to 8pm. Oh yeah, GreenMet29 is a neighbor, I'll bet he'll come as well.

I might be able to join in. I live in Houston and I'm able to meet up just about anywhere. It just depends on my work schedule for that week.

I can make it out.  There's a good German place in Pearland... I know it's not houston but it is REALLY good.

You could probably get more reaction to this thread if you post it on the main page... I would have never seen it if it wasn't for panzerpat.

I can make it. The kingsbiergarten is a good place south of town.

Yeah, Kingsbiergarten would be fairly easy to find if the WG bunch is staying around the Hobby Airport area. All they'd have to do is go S. on Telephone Rd.( St.Hiway 35) then turn left on FM 518. Plus, I've never been there and the food is supposed to be great.

This, I'm from Chicago but I could be persuaded to make the trip. I have some miles saved up and it's freezing cold up here right now anyway.

I'm 29 so bring on the beer!!

According to natives the eastern part of Houston is not where you want to be going. Same with the North east.

Central, downtown, Southeast, and West are all good. This is from people living there.

I will be in Houston that week on business and would make an effort to show up since it beats sitting around my hotel working all evening.

I'll leave the location suggestions to the locals but count me in for a few beers.
