What gun do you like best on the KV1?

85mm but some people like to use the 57mm "buzz saw." The 122mm is also an option.

I personally roll the 85 mm over the derp and 57 mm. To me it's the best balanced gun for any situation you might get into in the KV-1. You can dominate with it as a top tier, but you can still play a supporting role when you're near the bottom of the list. Since it's the best all-around gun for most situations, that's what I use.

No. It's what other players recommend. Do you really have to be like that?

Agree with Sulomon.  85mm is what I have on mine.  Try all three, 57mm, 122 derp and 85mm to see which best fits your playing style.

85mm it has the best of both worlds good pen and damage and with a decent crew it has a fast reload.

I usually run the 122, but thats just me. The 85 is highly efficient and the 57 just rips everything appart with tiny holes.

Thanks Commando, My thoughts were the same but I'm the new kid on the block, don't want to start off on a bad footing here.

Thanks to all of you guys for your input.  It really helps those of us still wet behind the ears.

HAHAHAHAHAHA  suuuUUUUUuuuure  the 85MM gun "sucks"  :Smile_veryhappy:

get the 85mm gun, sure the 57mm  and the 122 mm gun are useful too,  but the only gun that teach you how to play as a REAL heavy is the 85mm gun, also you can make far more credtis with  the 85mm gun than  the others 2  :Smile_great:

Are you serious or just trolling?

Lets look at the facts:

Tier Name Ammo Damage Penetration Shell Price Rate of Fire Accuracy Aim Time Elevation XP Cost Price Weight
V 76 mm ZiS-5 114 110/110/156 HP 86/102/38 mm 56 /5 /56  15 r/m 0.46 m 2.3 s -7°/+25° --- 33,400  1,155 kg
V 57 mm 413 174 85/85/95 HP 112/189/29 mm 56 /5 /56  26.09 r/m 0.34 m 2.3 s -7°/+25° 2,300 38,000  740 kg
V 122 mm U-11 50 450/370 HP 61/160 mm 257 /10  5.26 r/m 0.57 m 2.9 s -7°/+25° 3,750 59,920  1,600 kg
VI 85 mm F-30 76 160/160/280 HP 120/161/43 mm 109 /7 /98  12 r/m 0.42 m 2.9 s -7°/+24° 4,250 41,000  1,550 kg

57mmm has WORSE pen than the 85.   85mm accuracy is better than the (comparable guns on the)  T1, but not as good as the Churchy.

Compared to:
T1 VI 76 mm Gun M1A1 75 115/110/185 HP 128/177/38 mm 56 /7 /56  16.67 r/m 0.43 m 2.3 s -10°/+30° 4,600 50,330  1,567
Churchy I VI 75 mm Vickers HV 84 135/135/175 HP 145/202/38 mm 56 /7 /56  12.5 r/m 0.36 m 2.3 s

OP:  Its all about playstyle.  I'm not a big fan of Buzzsaw guns, and am not a proficient Derper, but I ran the 122 for a while and it did do well (no gold rounds).  I like good pen with above average Alpha- - 85mm for me.

Lastly, with Rammer, GLD, and increased crew skills, I have found (despite the .42 accuracy rating) that I can proficiently snipe with this tank as well.

85mm is not bad in close range, 0.34 on 57mm is just an illusion because it aims slower than it reloads.

And 85mm has more pen than 57mm.

And more accuracy than Amerikan 76mm.

----------------------------------------

85mm is good enough all around for KV-1.

57mm is more close range(otherwise takes forever to kill something, and cannot reliably pen angled KV-1).

122mm is best if loading 10 HEAT.

I'm grinding the KV-1 right now and am using the 85 after reading everything I could find on the subject.   The 76mm isn't viable, IMO.  The 57mm has the best accuracy and DPM but not the best pen and is a low alpha, high ROF gun that requires that you sit exposed taking shots.   The 85 has good alpha and pen but bad aim time and mediocre accuracy.  The 122mm is a derp gun that some like but I haven't tried on the KV-1.  Try it if you want, especially if you use HEAT when needed.  For the 85mm and the 122 you'll want to run a rammer and a GLD.  For the 57mm you don't need a GLD (maybe, might still be a good choice).
