I've been seeing several posts on the forums as well as many comments in game asking why can't the team that has the Sheriff on it get rewarded for keeping the Sheriff alive...

Well I have a suggestion for a new event that would be something like this... taking it from my paintball team days.

The event would be called Protect the President (or Ambassador or General if there were issues with political correctness junk).

Could be done one of two ways... personally I like the second way.

The person playing the President upon start of the match would ping the location they were going to the team they are on (the protectors). The area should be a short distance away, and once there the President and his protectors (team) would take up defensive positions to protect the President from the opposing team. Capping the enemy could still be utilized, but would make for more fun to defend to the last man.

A second way of playing Protect the President would work especially well if the President was platooning. At the start of the match, the President would ping the map to his team of protectors where his convoy is heading (generally a further distance across the map). The president would then be escorted by his platoon mates, one to the front and one to the rear of his tank and travel as a convoy. the team would protect him, sending scouts ahead as well as having units guarding the flanks and the rear of the convoy. Once at the predetermined location that was pinged, any remaining tanks would set up a defensive perimeter around the President. Again this would be more fun if fighting to the last man versus capping

If the President lives, the protecting team wins gold. The person who destroys the President's (or Ambassador or General for PC reasons) tank could get an assasin medal.

Just my idea for something new and maybe a bit of a different spin than the Sheriff event.

Putting your name in here Mugsy_
If it gets enough interest maybe you can kick this idea in the right direction.

This is just a differemt way of saying, put in the shotdown idea of "ESCORT". I had to emphasize that because your idea is a drawn out escort put differently. Not trying to be rude if rudness is detected.

Well being that I had no idea there was a "shotdown" idea of escort, or even that something called "escort" had been proposed.... I would have to say no it isn't. Yes you could escort as stated in the second way of doing this, but you don't have to. Regardless, I've posted this for more than just one set of eyes.

-Honestly, I can't stand these events. If you're on the side thats hunting the sheriff, its pretty much a guaranteed loss. Everyone gets so gold hungry that they just act stupid and get themselves killed.

-You would get the same result. The other team would just go crazy hunting for the sheriff to cockblock you that they all get slaughtered. The one plus I see is it would give a small reward to the entire team VS a large reward to 1 person just one person. But again, if you got on the side that didn't have the sheriff, you can pretty much guarantee a loss.

-When I'm in a match with a sheriff though my main goal is to keep him alive. One match my platoon mate and I fended off like 5 people and saved the sheriff. It felt quite rewarding. We lost to being capped but we kept him alive.

escort used to be a planned gamemode, until SerB and the devs found that most of the player base were to stupid to play it correctly (i assume the pubbies had a hard time protecting the escort) and that it wasnt meant to be played by casual pubbies

Never seen a match with a sheriff where the sheriff lived, what happened with that? I assume no reward?

One issue I see with this idea is that a complication of the matchmaker would need to be introduced: no arty in Escort matches. Otherwise, once the Ambassador is spotted, the chance of destroying him instantly skyrockets.

Let's see, how about make it like a "escort/convoy" where you must make this tank move from end of the map to the other, and tank has protect/kill it before it reaches it's target point. Also it must stay in that final area for a certain amount of time to win. It will also be differentiated from other defending tanks by being a different color. And maybe, slightly increase its hit points if there are no balancing issues.

Yes, I agree with the arty exclusion for this one because, it really is useless for arty to be in the escort party, they are likely to be a liability since they would not be defended.

Maybe limit the appearance of the Sheriff to Assault battles.  And the Sheriff isn't allowed to leave the friendly cap, forcing the enemy to approach to get their reward.
