Howdy folks, well today is the big day we release the news about our Wargaming.net League. We're putting up a $2.5 million dollar prize pool for the 2013 season.
If my stats were a little better (and I had the time to dedicate) I would seriously consider begging my way onto a pro team.
You can find the full announcement here!
Expect more news about this league at a later date.

1st...yawn
Edit: I yawn because you will probably force everyone into tier 1s...then 3s..then 5s..then 8s...and call it some lame event like Rise of the Money and completely botch it. Then make everyone wait for weeks on end while you figure out what to do to fix it. That is why I yawn... I hope you plan better this time

I am sure Virtus.Pro, RED or another high profile Russian Clan will take the 1st prize.

oh hell General Direction ID do anything to win that 2.5Million or even as much as 10 thousand id be happy. However with the stats i got i assume Havok,-G-,--R--,SIMP,ETC. those top clans will be the only ones to make it to even smell that money so there is absolutly no way for me to actually think about trying.
Id win that or a portion of that when it snows in hell thats the chances i got. Shit i got a better chance to hit the lottery than face these top clans. *buys a lotto ticket*

Yes that goes for the VERY vast majority of players. Even for those top clans you mentioned, past tournaments have shown it is very difficult to beat the best of the Russians. Just like baseball, hockey, and other sports, a lot of people play, only a few have a chance to "smell the money" so no different here.
I would be interested to see how some of our best players could do though. Our top players have the stats equivalent to a lot of Russian top players, but a lot less chance here to play against a variety of good teams due to our population. It would require an adjustment for sure.
Also the time requirement to compete with the best would be very high and take out a lot of people.

Tankers!
In order to bridge the gap between World of Tanks' gaming communities, previously separated by geographic boundaries, Wargaming is breaking into the global competitive gaming with a 2.5 million dollar prize pool for the 2013 season!
The new league is currently scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2013, and will adopt the format of traditional competitive gaming by way of regular regional tourneys and playoffs leading up to a Grand Finals. Wargaming's Global eSports Director, Jonghyuk Baak, has this to say about the development of the Wargaming.net League:
"The scale and popularity of competitive gaming has been skyrocketing over the last couple of years, and we have now reached the point where we can focus significant effort on advancing World of Tanks on to the global eSports scene. Wargaming.net League is a groundbreaking step in our quest to bring the game’s eSports potential into the international spotlight.”
The Wargaming.net League is planned to include tournaments within other company's MMO titles, when they reach their release stages. Andrei Yrantsau, VP of Global Operation at Wargaming says the following about the development of the new eSports League:
“Now we have a sustainable tool to broaden our global eSports involvement in an unprecedented way: stimulate the growth of the competitive community, organize bigger and better tournaments with larger prize pools than ever, and provide our best pro gamers with completely viable career opportunities.”
With the release of this news, expect to see an explosion in the number of high-level teams. It'll now be entirely possible to become a highly paid World of Tanks player--that is, if you've got what it takes to win!

I do have my big boy pants on and it doesn't involve spending 5-6 hours a day playing a game. Between my family and my career, my time is much better spent elsewhere and I know that my well paying job will pay much better than the hours spent playing a game and alienating those who are important to me.
If you equate "big boy pants" with trying to make money playing a computer game, then you probably are the type of person who needs to get away from the computer and get a real job!

Yes, I also have family and a career. But for those who are very good with the game and do NOT have families and have the time to devote, why not? Not everyone is in our situation.

The name seems to indicate, at least to me, that World of Warplanes and World of Warships (along with, perhaps, WoTGenerals and Wargaming West's upcoming console game) will also be added to this league in the future. Is this so?
